In 2013, **Derek Osbourne** — then Liberal Democrat leader of Kingston upon Thames Council — was caught with **thousands** of indecent images of children. Southwark Crown Court sent him down for two years. The judge called it “stomach-churning.” He had to sign the sex offenders register. Yet here’s the gut-punch for **every single CSA survivor like me**: Osbourne was the most senior politician overseeing a London borough council with direct responsibility for children’s services. The same local government machine that was supposed to **protect** kids was being led by a man consuming the very images that fuel the nightmare we lived through. This is **why it shatters my Grafton Close case** — and every survivor still fighting Richmond upon Thames Council ( @LBRUT ) today. I was 13, placed in their “safe” Grafton Close children’s home in 1984. Groomed and repeatedly raped by Philip Saunders while council staff looked the other way. Staff propositioned me for sex. Convicted abusers like John Stingemore walked free on probation and carried on working with kids. Elm Guest House trafficking links were known — and buried. Records “lost.” Decades of gaslighting, insurance lawyers, and zero redress while I battle C-PTSD. Osbourne’s crimes prove the poison was at the very top of these neighbouring boroughs. Powerful men in council roles — the ones who set safeguarding policy, control budgets, decide who gets heard — were either actively involved in child abuse material or enabling the culture that let predators roam free in care homes. They jailed Osbourne… but the system he represented never changed. Richmond Council still denies me a proper apology, full inquiry, or lifelong redress. They hide behind “lost files” and legal loopholes while survivors rot. Same Lib Dem networks. Same south-west London council club. Same institutional betrayal. This isn’t one bad apple. It’s a rotten barrel that protected its own and sacrificed kids like me, David Harris, and every Grafton Close survivor. **ENOUGH.** If you’re a councillor, MP, or journalist in Kingston, Richmond, or anywhere these boroughs touch — look at Osbourne and then look at us. You were shown the evidence the Iraqi gang with 56 members, pistols, rifles, pictures of the Ayatollah, price lists, and fresh crossings advertised only yesterday, yet you still choose to hand over another half a billion without a single measurable target or penalty for failure. ⚠️🚨LABOUR COUNCILLOR ADMITS MAKING CSA IMAGES 👉Former Stevenage councillor and MP aide, Conor McGrath, has pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children. McGrath, 29, admitted having 515 CSA images on his iPhone and ipad, including 77 in the worst category showing children being r-ped. Defence said McGrath had "suffered trauma in his childhood" and has "fragile mental health". McGrath served as a Labour councillor for Bedwell ward on Stevenage Borough Council from January 2023 until his arrest in April 2025. He also worked as a senior aid for Stevenage MP Kevin Bonavia. He resigned his council seat in May 2025 and was suspended by the Labour Party. McGrath will appear at St Albans Crown Court on 17th April for sentencing - and remains on bail.
