@celeron55

This profile is boring. Go look at Luanti/Minetest (which I founded and still oversee) or Openinverter (a very technical EV conversion community) instead.

@Nashcash @elonmusk @wholemars @WR4NYGov 4 seconds means it was disengaged before that video clip begins. Plenty of time for it to slow down if it wasn't disengaged, or in this case, plenty of time for the human to do the same. Disengaging is the thing to be aware of on any ADAS system.

The media is running a story today about how a Cybertruck “allegedly” crashed on a Texas highway. Spoiler alert, the crash happened while the human driver was in control. The law firm, which is seeking $1 million, says that last summer Justine Saint Amour was driving her Cybertruck with Autopilot engaged. There’s just one problem — Autopilot is a legacy lane keeping system that never shipped on Cybertruck. The driver then admits that before the crash they disengaged the system and started driving manually. Indeed, the video shows the truck starting to turn before the driver disengaged and drove into the wall. Tesla hasn’t officially responded to the lawsuit yet, but available telemetry indicates the driver probably wasn’t paying attention, got startled, and crashed. There doesn’t seem to be any attempt to steer back towards the on-ramp in the video, rather you see the trajectory change from turning with the ramp to driving straight into it. When you crash your car, people tend to put blame on anyone but themselves. A high profile company like Tesla, with a CEO who is the wealthiest man on Earth? Yeah, they kinds of BS lawsuits happen often. Let’s wait for more data and discovery to take place, but based on the evidence i’m seeing so far that doesn’t look like something FSD — even an older V13 — would do.

I'm always on the lookout for interesting releases on the IRC/Discord/Matrix chat application realm, and it looks like this year brings us something significant: Fluxer, from Sweden. It's open source and there's no VC money in it

@pineboxtrev @elonmusk So you're one of the people who think pivoting due to market conditions and not getting your estimates right is lying? It's not like SpaceX is twiddling its thumbs waiting for Musk to say when to go. They've been hard at work for 10 years and that will continue.

For those unaware, SpaceX has already shifted focus to building a self-growing city on the Moon, as we can potentially achieve that in less than 10 years, whereas Mars would take 20+ years. The mission of SpaceX remains the same: extend consciousness and life as we know it to the stars. It is only possible to travel to Mars when the planets align every 26 months (six month trip time), whereas we can launch to the Moon every 10 days (2 day trip time). This means we can iterate much faster to complete a Moon city than a Mars city. That said, SpaceX will also strive to build a Mars city and begin doing so in about 5 to 7 years, but the overriding priority is securing the future of civilization and the Moon is faster.

@rook_simon12557 @ApoStructura I don't like your BS reply, but here goes: Starship is out of necessity very different compared to a traditional single use rocket. Anyway, out of all of the merged Musk companies, xAI is the one bleeding money and SpaceX is the one generating it. I'm willing to give it more time

@celeron55 @ApoStructura Each Starship gen has started with a high payload and progressively been reduced. so it suggests either they don't know how to design it to achieve what they say or they are lying. Your car analogy is truly dumb, as we've had rockets getting to space for 80y orbit for 60y.

Starship uses ~$10k of fuel per 1T to orbit. A cargo plane uses ~$1.5k to fly 1T accros the world. Once you have fully reusable rockets, the price difference between sending something to another continent or to space won’t be that high. We’ll see 10,000+ launches a year soon.

@TheNextAlan @MarioNawfal It could actually even increase. Humans intervene for various non-safety reasons and for false reasons - and any intervention puts the human in control, which we're pretty sure is a risk. So, we don't really know

@MarioNawfal The evidence shows that FSD-Supervised is safer than regular human driving. It shows nothing about FSD-Unsupervised. If you eliminate supervision, the safety will drop. How much? Nobody knows.

TESLA'S LATEST FSD SAFETY DATA: 7-9X SAFER THAN HUMANS Q3 2025 numbers straight from Tesla: vehicles on Full Self-Driving (Supervised) hit one crash every 6.36 million miles, U.S. human average sits at roughly one every 702,000 miles. Simple division: 7-9 times safer when engaged. Backed by real-world miles. Charts show steady gains from late 2024 into 2025, topping out near 4.92 million miles per incident, plus claims of 85% fewer crashes, 35k fewer deaths, 2 million fewer injuries overall. 🇩🇪‼️🚨 BIG BROTHER: German authorities forced Lexus to turn off the parking heating in Lexus cars! Just when it got cold and people needed it! Imagine you bought a car and paid for specific features, but the government just turns it off because it’s NOT GREEN! I’m not joking, Toyota used remote access to turn off the pre heating, which is used to heat up the cars before driving. You would turn it on, 10 minutes before driving somewhere, so your car is warm and de-iced already. 🗣️ Toyota spokesman Ralph Müller: "The pre-air conditioning is a free function of the MyToyota app or Lexus Link Plus App. This function is still available for all pure electric vehicles and plug-in vehicles. For vehicles with conventional drive, this only works when the combustion engine is running. The legislator considers this an unnecessary running of the engine or an avoidable exhaust gas pollution, which is prohibited. This is not known to many users. In Europe, there is no uniform legal situation, about which we have informed with a corresponding note in the app. In order to protect the vehicle user from fines, we have deactivated the function on these vehicles.”

Todellisuudessa omakotitaloissa on 25A pääsulakkeet jolloin maksimiteho on n. 17kW

MIKÄ VITUN TEHOMAKSU? Olen omakotitalon omistaja. Maksoin tontin. Maksoin talon. Maksoin sähköliittymän. Maksoin sähköstä. Maksoin siirrosta. Sauna on riski. Uuni on väärään aikaan. VITUN. TEHOMAKSU. Kari von Hauho

@SawyerMerritt Ok - but to sell 10 million cars, wouldn't they need at least 10 models? I love the 3, Y, but they need a category killer truck they can sell for $50k, right? Maybe another sedan, Cybercab-like variant? Doesn't that leave like 5 models left?
