Through the SSY Project, we are tackling the twin challenges of limited space and water scarcity in Nairobi. For women with disabilities in Dagoretti, traditional farming is often out of reach. These tower gardens offer a vertical, water efficient solution that fits perfectly in small urban areas. By growing upwards, we are ensuring that food security and climate resilience are accessible to everyone, right at their doorstep. #ssy @WeWorldOnlus @EUinKenya @Oayouthkenya

Green energy must be inclusive energy. In Dagoretti, our team has been on the ground distributing energy-saving jikos and conducting follow-up monitoring with women with disabilities. This initiative focuses on reducing the domestic burden and improving the living standards of those most affected by climate change. Seeing the direct impact of these jikos on household budgets and respiratory health reminds us why community-rooted climate action is so vital. #ssy @WeWorldOnlus @EUinKenya @Oayouthkenya

The TFGBV Gap Analysis validation meeting by CRAWN Trust with the support from African Women’s Development Fund, brought together key stakeholders to address the growing threat of Technology Facilitated Gender Based Violence (TFGBV) in Kenya. The presentation highlighted how Kenya’s rapid digital transformation while empowering, has also created new avenues for abuse that disproportionately impact women and girls. Drawing from extensive legal reviews, multi-sector consultations, and powerful survivor testimonies, the analysis exposed critical systemic gaps, including the absence of a clear, gender-responsive legal definition of TFGBV, limited enforcement and digital forensic capacity, fragmented institutional responses, and a lack of survivor-centered remedies such as content takedown mechanisms and compensation frameworks. The findings further revealed how emerging technologies like AI, deepfakes, and online anonymity are accelerating harm while existing laws struggle to keep pace. Survivors’ lived experiences underscored the human cost ranging from reputational damage and economic loss to mental health challenges and forced relocation often compounded by stigma and inadequate support systems. The report calls for urgent, coordinated action, including strengthening and harmonizing legal frameworks, investing in digital investigation capacity, establishing integrated multi-agency response systems, and advancing policies that prioritize survivor dignity, protection, and recovery. Ultimately, the meeting emphasized that addressing TFGBV is a shared responsibility requiring collaboration across government, civil society, and technology actors to build safer, more inclusive digital spaces in Kenya and set a global standard for action. @awdf01 @CREAWKenya @CAID_Kenya @UAFAfrica @CAREinKenya @UraiaTrust @FamilyMediaTV

Kenya has thrown its full support behind the candidature of Lady Justice @NjokiNdungu_LJ for election as a Judge of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague. I hosted Chief Justice @CJMarthaKoome and Justice Ndung’u at my Railways office, where, together with the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs team, we aligned on a focused and strategic campaign to advance her candidature on the global stage. I reaffirmed that Justice Ndung’u’s bid has the full backing of H.E. President @WilliamsRuto and Cabinet, reflecting Kenya’s confidence in her distinguished judicial experience and global outlook. We have now activated a coordinated diplomatic push to position her strongly ahead of the elections in December, with a clear objective, secure Kenya a seat at the ICC and strengthen our contribution to international justice. Also present were Chief of Staff Joseph Busiega, Amb. Halima Mucheke (Kenya Embassy, Netherlands), Amb. Galma Boru (Kenya Ambassador to Ethiopia), and Amb. Yabesh Monari (Deputy Permanent Representative, Kenya Mission to the United Nations).

The closure meeting of the Faith in Action project was a powerful moment to pause, reflect, and appreciate a journey that brought people together around a shared vision of fairness, dignity, and inclusion. Over the past several months, the project created meaningful spaces for faith leaders, community members, and partners to openly engage on sensitive but important issues like gender-based violence, harmful cultural practices, and the need for greater inclusion of women in leadership. Through interfaith dialogues, community forums, and media conversations, voices that were once hesitant grew more confident, and conversations that were once avoided became part of everyday discussions. One of the most impactful aspects of the project was equipping faith leaders with practical tools and knowledge, helping them integrate messages of equality and respect into their teachings and community work. There was also a noticeable shift in mindset, with more leaders stepping forward as advocates for change and encouraging positive roles for men in advancing gender justice. As shared during the meeting, this was not just about activities completed, but about real change in attitudes and perspectives. The closure was not an end, but a reminder of the progress made and a renewed commitment to continue building more inclusive and just communities. @CAID_Kenya @CREAWKenya @FamilyMediaTV

Over the past two days at the Magandia Demo Farm in Kwale county, we had an enriching and highly engaging experience focused on mushroom cultivation. Our farmers participated in a fully hands-on training, moving beyond traditional classroom learning. Together, we successfully constructed a mushroom dark room from the ground up, gaining practical skills in managing light and temperature to create optimal growing conditions. Mushroom farming presents a valuable opportunity for communities in Kwale, offering: Efficient use of limited space High nutritional benefits Strong income-generating potential This marks an exciting step forward, and we look forward to seeing continued growth and impact within the community. #ssy @WeWorldOnlus @EUinKenya @Oayouthkenya

The Stakeholder Discussions on Circular Economy and Sustainable Waste Management under the SSY (Sikiliza Sauti Yetu) project were full of energy and meaningful engagement. People came ready to share ideas, ask questions, and explore practical solutions together. From innovative recycling approaches to community led waste reduction efforts, one thing was clear, Kwale is ready to take the lead in sustainability. There’s a growing belief that real change is already happening. More importantly, there’s a shift in mindset. We’re moving away from the “take-make-waste” approach and embracing a future where every resource is valued. It’s not just about managing waste, it’s about rethinking how we see it altogether. #ssy @WeWorldOnlus @EUinKenya @Oayouthkenya

CRAWN Trust joined other stakeholders at the Four Points by Sheraton Nairobi Airport yesterday for a public hearing on the Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill, 2025 (Senate Bills No. 16 of 2025) by the Senate Standing Committee on Justice, Legal Affairs and Human Rights. Through the Women’s Steering Committee (WSC network which we coordinate), we and a delegation of WSC members made a submission of our memorandum, which was in support of the bill. The bill offers a pragmatic, constitutionally grounded solution to operationalize the not more than two-thirds gender principle through a clear post-election mechanism, enhancing legal certainty and institutional credibility. It further strengthens inclusive governance by guaranteeing representation of persons with disabilities (PWDs), reforming party list processes to ensure transparency, and introducing term limits for nominated members to expand leadership opportunities. These targeted amendments reinforce constitutional compliance without altering the broader framework. The WSC calls for the expeditious enactment of the Bill to advance gender equality, restore public confidence, and uphold Kenya’s commitment to accountable, inclusive, and rules-based democratic governance. @CAREinKenya @UraiaTrust @UAFAfrica @CREAWKenya @wee_hub @TISAKenya @CAID_Kenya
