A commentary I’ve heard within the XRP community this month is some version of “why is XRP price dislodged from adoption metrics?” Here’s my quick take: XRP is not yet a liquidity bridge at scale. The version of XRP that we believe could drive sustained utility demand is when banks and businesses leverage it as working capital. We see signals that institutional use is growing. But you don’t own your home. I fail to see how this “centralizes power” any more than them taking my home. Fail paying your property taxes and they seize your home and land. I’d rather pay a higher sales tax that I can somewhat control on what I purchase than taxes on my home that keep rising forever yet if I fail to pay, I lose it.
Property taxes generate about $24B in Ohio. I’d rather see them go after fraud and waste to recoup some of the money. And if my sales tax goes up, so be it as long as I get to keep my home.

This repeal is designed to centralize power, not benefit Ohioans. The revenue will have to be recouped somewhere else. Either via a sales tax increases to 15-20%, income tax increases to 11-15%, or shifting tax liability to utility companies, thus doubling your payments.

A grassroots group led by Brian Massie and Leonard Gilbert is collecting signatures for a constitutional amendment to eliminate all residential and commercial property taxes — and put it on the November ballot.
