Really? Hockey is still the No. 1 sport at SCSU. They are currently doing upgrades on the Herb. They have contract with Twin Cities TV. They keep producing NHL talent (Posch, Gross). Maybe the only reason they’ve missed the tournament is because of the head coach now at U. 🤷🏼♂️

@thoen88 Larson was the only thing keeping that program afloat, according to numerous people I’ve talked to. The NCHC is a tough league, very ebb and flow (see Duluth the last few years). Larson is a solid hire for the Gophers, but the future is … bleak … In St. Cloud with him gone.

Also, in my opinion, coaching decisions led to several losses this year. If those turn into wins or even ties, this team is right there for NCAA tourney.
Larson leaving MAY turn into a blessing for this program.

@SchlossmanGF Larson is a good coach in a program that is just getting outpaced by the new money flowing into college sports. He's going from am extremely low resource school to one of the absolute highest. I think he'll be better than their fans expect.

I have utmost respect for Grant Potulny and Brett Larson, and believe either one would be a success as the next #gophers men's hockey coach. With that said, I was amazed (not in a good way) to learn that as of this evening, Mark Coyle has not spoken to Pat Ferschweiler.
