@dingoderek @patmurphybbc True. They may have been a touch too confident, even complacent. Italy, by contrast, were wily, pragmatic, dull, and had Rossi, who could sniff out a goal. Brazil chased beauty above all else, and ultimately paid the price.

@MartinCald77022 @patmurphybbc I remember 82 pretty well and as a Scotsman I marvelled at the lesson they taught us in Seville However defence was not their strong point.They went behind to USSR,Scotland & Italy.They were great to watch but after a very slow start Italy timed their run to perfection

@patmurphybbc The difference between winning and not winning a tournament can be a very fine margin. I don’t think it necessarily determines that one was better than the other. Both great teams but Brazil 82 had a bit more flair than Brazil 70.
