Came to a conference, food was good, people were nice. Myths pushed as truth in sessions including: -learning styles -"factory" model of education -people remember 10% of what they read.. It's 2022, why in the heck does this still happen? Worse, why does it happen with L&D people

@Tracy_Parish When of the better ways to provide feedback is to try your best to understand the mindset of the creator. I want to know why they did the things they did. Spend time understanding, so you can give accurate and relevant feedback.

Constructive feedback is helpful. Hurtful comments are not. Remember that someone that is showing, sharing, or teaching might be nervous, or it may be their first time. or they may have just going through an emotional or physical event that morning yet still came to present.

I got a huge promotion today: friend. I’ve really enjoyed working with this incredible crew of L&D professionals but today I told them see you later. We laughed, cried, and shared funny moments. I’ll share more about my new adventure soon but Silfex Ops Training team, I love you.

@alexinlearning Iv started to notice an large portion of ID talk surrounds eLearning, especially pertaining in the teacher movement. While not incorrect, I find it disingenuous. eLearning is a medium of communication and training, ID is so much more.

@alexinlearning We are already seeing the ripple of the snake oil- it’s led to a rat race to cranking out superficial portfolios, demanding over market pay, and the assumption with a badge and swag they paid for they know everything they will ever need about ID. CLO or bust.

@caranorth11 That's why I always tell stakeholders/smes that we are not making them experts or masters of w.e we are training. We are simply building the foundation of knowledge and development of the most critical skills so they can be somewhat successful - with additional support and tools

So it’s a pretty unrealistic expectation to think that a new employee will never make a mistake outside of training. So why do so many stakeholders blame training when people are still in the process of mastery?

Calling out scammy practices by an ID “influencer” isn’t a limiting belief, it’s just the truth. It is not realistic to think your first ID role will pay six figures no matter what someone tells you. There are outliers but selling this dream to everyone is snake oil. 🐍🐍🐍
