🚨 Highest Crimes in India 2024 – NCRB Report Breakdown
What are the most reported crimes in India?
Not always the ones that make headlines. Here’s the data from the latest NCRB “Crime in India 2024” report 2/
Total cognizable crimes in 2024:
58.85 lakh cases ↓ 6% from 62.41 lakh in 2023
Crime rate: 418.9 per lakh population (lowest since 2019) Note: Big part of the decline is due to new criminal laws (BNS) — simple “Hurt” is now non-cognizable.3/
Top crimes by volume (most reported): Hurt/Grievous Hurt: ~4.41 lakh cases
(Sharp drop due to legal change) Crimes Against Women: ~4.41 lakh cases
• Cruelty by husband/relatives: 1.20 lakh cases (biggest chunk)4/
Economic Offences (mainly Forgery, Cheating & Fraud): ~2.14 lakh cases
• FCF alone: ~1.92 lakh cases Cybercrimes: 1.02 lakh cases
↑ 18% from 2023
• 72.6% = financial fraud (~74,000 cases)5/
Crimes Against Children: ~1.87 lakh cases
↑ 5.9%
• Kidnapping & POCSO are the biggest sub-categoriesProperty crimes (Theft, Burglary, Robbery) remain high in volume but are declining.6/
For comparison (serious but lower volume):
• Murder: Only 27,049 cases (↓ 2.4%)
• Kidnapping & Abduction: Also declinedKey takeaway:
Domestic violence, fraud/cheating, and cyber crimes dominate the numbers. Violent crimes like murder are relatively low in absolute terms.7/
Important notes:
• These are reported cases only → underreporting is high (especially domestic & sexual crimes)
• Cyber + fraud crimes are rising fastest
• Numbers vary hugely by state (absolute vs rate matters)Source: NCRB Crime in India 2024 (released May 2026)8/
What surprised you the most? Crimes against women still at 4.41 lakh?
Or cyber fraud crossing 1 lakh? Drop your thoughts #NCRB #CrimeInIndia #IndiaCrimeReport #CyberCrime #CrimesAgainstWomen

Exactly one year ago, I visited Trimbakeshwar with my Telugu friend.
She insisted that we buy the ₹200 VIP Darshan pass. We did.
And honestly, I still don't understand why VIP Darshan even exists.
The same God.
The same blessings.
The same faith.
Yet one person waits 4 hours because they paid ₹200, while another waits 9 hours in the normal queue.
I understand temples need money for maintenance, but sometimes it feels like devotion has become a business.
In front of Mahadev, everyone is equal.
Faith should not have a VIP lane. 🙏

Spot on with the structural math. Infosys FY25: 21.1% op margin, R&D just ₹850cr (0.62% of revenue). TCS similar thin margins + ~1.1% R&D.
Sikka tried pushing products/AI 2014-17 but faced real internal resistance.
Services model scaled jobs & exports brilliantly — product bets need different incentives."
