Yes, people are STILL arguing with my suggestion that aspiring writers read ONE recent book. One. Not one hundred. Not to never read older books. Not write a book exactly like that one. Just read one recent book. And they cannot handle it. I'm flabbergasted

@gailcarriger A breath comma is definitely a hill I’ll die on in editing. Must preserve the flow!

Someone once taught me you’re supposed to put in “breath pause” commas. Copy editors do not agree with this. Or I write like Willam Shatner talks.
