@notgrubles Nearly, perhaps. However I heard the "proof of routing work" approach from Saito could be used to monetize Bitcoin's p2p network, which could help address the scaling burden put on volunteer nodes. (A bit over my head though)

Nearly the entire crypto industry is centered around trying to get you to not buy or use Bitcoin.

If you're unable to admit that Bitcoin has weaknesses and room for improvement because your bags are heavy, then you don't own bitcoin. Bitcoin owns you.

@cafreiman They will build a personalized spending profile to milk you to the maximum, and the more gullible the shopper, the more they will be able to disregard the prudent. People like you are going to raise prices for everyone.

Surge pricing is good—if a store is running low on ice cream (for example), it can conserve the supply by instantly raising the price and reserve the remainder for those who value it the most (plus, the store can quickly lower prices if a product isn’t selling).

Walmart is rolling out digital price tags at all of its stores. At the same time, the corporate giant just secured a patent for "dynamically and automatically updating item prices.” Plus another patent for using machine learning to predict demand and recommend prices.

@shaharhal ב-75% מתאי השירותים בצה״ל יש חרא על התקרה (נדגמו שירותי גברים בלבד). אין לי מושג איך טכנית זה קורה, אך זו עובדה.

@Topchoice16 @AaronBastani Headline doesn't really tell the story. Iran is selling oil to China. By "unsanctioning" the oil, the US is giving itself the right to steal China's supply

@jlnbrwn @owenjonesjourno If Iran chose to target civilians like Israel does, you'd be singing a different tune. You should be grateful that they are better people

@owenjonesjourno So come to Israel proper. We’ll have a pint, I’ll show you (to your sadness) that Tel Aviv is in tact and thriving, and you can apologise. If not, no worries. But I still expect an apology when the war is over and Israel is still ok x

“We’d be using the Iranian barrels against the Iranians to keep the price down for the next 10 or 14 days.” Masterful gambit, sir.
Rapid Response 47@RapidResponse47

.@SecScottBessent: In the coming days, we may unsanction the Iranian oil that's on the water. It's about 140 million barrels, so depending how you count it, that's 10 days to 2 weeks of supply, that the Iranians had been pushing out, that would have all gone to China. In essence, we'd be using the Iranian barrels against the Iranians to keep the price down for the next 10 or 14 days, as we continue this campaign. So, we have lots of levers.

🚨 WOW! Treasury Sec. Scott Bessent just announced plans to use Iran's own oil AGAINST THEM The strategy: un-sanction 140 million Iranian barrels already on the water, and UNLEASH 10-14 days of supply "We'd be using the Iranian barrels AGAINST the Iranians to keep the price down for the next 10 or 14 days, as we continue this campaign. So, we have lots of levers!" @RapidResponse47 Trump's all-star team is unmatched.

I have two clear messages: First, to the United States & Israel: It’s high time to end this war that is risking to get out of control, causing immense suffering on civilians, with dramatic effects on the global economy & potentially tragic consequences, especially for the least developed countries. Second, my message to Iran: Stop attacking your neighbors, they were never parties to the conflict. The Security Council has condemned these attacks, has ordered them to stop, as it has order to open the Strait of Hormuz. The prolonged closure of the Strait of Hormuz causes enormous pain for so many people around the world who have nothing to do with this conflict. It’s time for the force of the law to prevail over the law of the force. It’s time for diplomacy to prevail over war. My remarks from the European Council in Brussels: un.org/sg/en/content/…

None of what he listed should belong to an authoritarian organization like the state. Credit and monetary systems are individual endeavors, and so is land. Infrastructure would be a trickier case, but since the state has consistently proven itself incapable of providing basic services without robbing citizens through debt, inflation, high taxes or artificially high prices, it is not.

When I was in my 20s I wished to deepen my understanding of the Israel-Palestine situation. So I purchased at least a dozen books - mostly semi-obscure, academic, many by dissenting Israeli historians. A day came when I closed a book halfway through, resolved to read no further, even to try to forget all I had learned, and then I donated all the books. It was clear, painfully and miserably clear, that I would be wasting my life trying to understand it more when it was nothing more than this.
