@CYMotorsport @_digital_dani_ 100% disagree with your take. he was never going to make that corner and cannot understand how anyone would think otherwise. by maintaining speed to be side-by-side with oscar, max had no chance to make that corner, as oscar barely did. can you explain your thought process?

@_digital_dani_ i 100% disagree the penalty wont be about making he corner it'll be about gaining the advantage. he always could make the corner.

Thats a LOT closer than I thought. I actually wouldn't be shocked if this is a no call. Oscar's turn would have been slightly compromised by the angle - that will be a mitigating factor.

just my take, but crowdfunding with incentives sounds like a modern patronage system, which could level the playing field a bit for those risky ventures. it's like giving a safety net to talents who might not otherwise jump into the unknown. just gotta ensure transparency and fair returns so trust isn't a stumbling block.

"To fund his golfing ambitions, McIlroy's parents took on extra jobs. Gerry worked 100 hours a week; he cleaned toilets and showers at a local sports club in the mornings, served as a bartender at Holywood Golf Club from 12 to 6 pm, then returned to the sports club to work behind the bar in the evenings. Rosie looked after Rory during the day, and worked night shifts packaging rolls of tape at a 3M factory in Bangor, County Down. Due to their conflicting schedules, McIlroy's parents rarely saw each other during this period. Gerry later said: "I had no idea what else to do. I’m a working-class man. We wanted to give our only child a chance." After finding success as a professional golfer, McIlroy bought his parents a house in 2009, and stated: "I’ll never be able to repay Mum and Dad for what they did, but at least they know they’ll never have to work another day. I’ll do whatever it takes to look after them."

@PunterJeff @garrytan it's an un-level playing field to be sure. creating an avenue for fan investment into talent like rory (or say, early mr beast) would remove consequences of indebtedness while creating opportunity for all.

The saddest part about this whole story is there are hundreds of thousands of stories like this, that have ended with “failure.” And because of that perceived “failure” the parents act like the child is indebted to them for the risks they took, and “sacrifices they made” even if it wasn’t what the kid wanted with their life. Sometimes this “indebtedness” can turn explosive, toxic, and split families permanently. Speaking from experience.

@CeFaanKim thanks for all your reporting. one thing I don't understand is how someone with that many arrests and recent warrants for missed court dates can get RoR'd again and again. not sure if you have the time/space for that kind of longform work but would be helpful for many.

@CYMotorsport yep, i agree that it seems FIA's intent is to keep DQ'd drivers off the podium, but wouldn't surprise me if AM pointed to the ambiguity to at least get the classification for PR even if ultimately it proved futile

@jaek Normally I too would make a commotion about language but this one seems straight forward. This was a lot messier to your point at silverstone. RB should have gotten hit with the bad faith clause. but its likely bc it was a petition to appeal and not an official, it didn't apply

Why Seb's P2 classification was a mistake: [12.3.3.a] The suspensive effect resulting from the appeal does not allow Competitor & Driver to take part in the prize-giving or the podium ceremony, nor to appear in the Final Classifications published at the end of the Competition...

@CYMotorsport IANAL but it seems the reg as written doesn't handle this case very cleanly, leaving it up to speculation. if they recognize as such (or if Ferrari want to raise a ruckus about it) i'd imagine it'd be cleaned up next year and be as overwrought as other regs.

@jaek Given later codes begin w/ "intention" language, I speculate they read similarly here. Eg: 15.4.2.a They must, however, under pain of forfeiture of their right to appeal, notify the stewards in writing of their intention to appeal within 1 hr of the publication of the decision.

Interesting. Albon without hesitation gets a 5 second penalty for that. I would love to see the rationale how Leclerc's contact with Stroll was ANY different.

@NateSilver538 does this mean the model vol will drop significantly after post debate polls come out?

Of that 20-25% of the time that Trump comes back (I can't believe I have to say this but note: our probabilities don't account for the chance that the election would be stolen) I'd think the debates are a pretty important part of the story. They may be his best chance.

Trump still has decent comeback chances (20-25%) but some of the recent chatter about the election coming down to the Supreme Court seems to imply that we're headed for a photo finish, which is not (necessarily) true. Biden has a solid lead right now. projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2020-election-…

@KParrishR @AndrewYang @ArifCRafiq @nbc I have publicly apologized for the error in video and tweet. Taking the tweet down makes it look like I have something to hide. I've owned the error, a correction has been issued, and I've personally apologized to Mr. Yang for our omission.
