Keith Pelley: "I thought we had the right leadership in place.... Without getting into the detail, I honestly believe that we didn't have the alignment, we didn't have the culture, we didn't have the structure that we needed to be successful."

The idea that fixing the culture of this team by building around the people responsible for the current culture is concerning…

@TageForHart Oh it's an absolute joke in every level. Real Leafs fans have known since they lost to Columbus in the bubble. But let's run it back again lol

As a Buffalo Sabres fan I fucking love this. But if I’m a Leafs fan, this is the biggest bush league answer I’ve ever seen. Your team sucks this year because two other teams in the league got better? That makes NO sense. #LeafsForever

When asked what went wrong for the #leafs this season, Keith Pelley says "we didn't see the train coming" in reference to the Montreal Canadiens and Buffalo Sabres.

🚨 A full recap of Keith Pelley’s press conference following the firing of GM Brad Treliving: 🔹 The next GM or president must prioritize data and culture, using analytics to guide decisions while making sure the team’s values and identity are maintained, similar to how TFC combines stats with cultural checks. 🔹 He texted with Auston Matthews but will keep those conversations private. 🔹 He thinks the Leafs already have the key pieces to compete next year, giving confidence for a bounce-back. 🔹 He says the team will NOT tank and was offended by suggestions of losing games to secure a bottom-5 pick this season. 🔹 He says Matthews and Nylander are foundational players and the right structure can get the team back into contention. 🔹 He thinks the team lacked the culture and structure needed to succeed and stronger teams like Buffalo, Montreal, Detroit, and Ottawa caught them off guard. 🔹 He has no role in the Leafs’ day-to-day roster decisions and is not involved in scouting, coaching, or general manager duties. #leafsforever

Snowfall warning for tomorrow, 20cm with a possibility of 30. To cope, I am going to post this beautiful picture from the summer to remind myself why I live here. In the middle of the North Atlantic. With a winter that has lasted almost 6 months. Good thing she’s pretty.

🚨🎙️ Keith Pelley: “Without going into detail, we didn’t have the culture or the structure that we needed to be successful. We definitely didn’t see the train coming, meaning the Buffalo Sabres and the Montreal Canadiens, and how strong those two teams are, along with the likes of Detroit and Ottawa.” Via @MapleLeafs #leafsforever

@MapleLeafs Fix the damage culture. Don't make it a country club. Spoiled bunch. People come to Toronto and it's like a vacation.

Treliving is obviously a horrendous GM, but I will say OEL is one of my favourite free agent signings of the Matthews era. Just wish he targeted more defencemen with OEL’s skillset instead of guys like Carlo, Benoit, Edmundson, Lyubushkin, etc.

@MikePMoffatt @MapleSyrupLeafs As a Leafs fan, I didn't want him here for what he did to the flames. I said when he was hired this was going to be a disaster Shanahan completely screwed up when he let Dubas go. Dubas wasn't perfect but he always tried to improve the team.

@jaeloop @ldl716 No matter who they hire as GM or President of Hockey Ops it's just going to be more of the same... trading away picks and prospects, not developing young players properly, country club atmosphere. I'm 37 years old and it's been that way my entire life. They'll never learn.
