@anhonestcityfan @LeoInABag An attacking player. I get that he was playing in midfield and on the wing but his job was still to get up the pitch and create chances.

It’s kind of funny when people give longevity argument against Ronaldo while talking about PL 🐐, but have no issues with Salah and Henry. Ronaldo — 8 seasons at United Salah — 9 seasons at Liverpool Henry — 9 seasons at Arsenal

@anhonestcityfan @LeoInABag As an attacking player, there's nothing more important than g/a. Ronaldo wouldn't be retiring as a legend if he'd carried on getting goals and assists at the same rate he did in those first three seasons at United.

@anhonestcityfan @LeoInABag In Ronaldo's first three seasons at Man Utd he had as many PL g/a as Salah did in 23/24...

@blow_left @YazzLFC @Nath_LFC_ Those last two things simply aren't true. He was one of the most accurate passers in the league. Not the most imaginative passes, but generally kept possession well. And he was decent in the air. Not VVD good but mostly positioned himself well and won most of his aerial duels.

@YazzLFC @Nath_LFC_ He had some good seasons in what were defensive teams, but he was slow, poor in the air and couldn't pass. He wasn't elite at all.

@anhonestcityfan @LeoInABag When your 'off-seasons' are being 2nd top scorer in the league in 20/21 and being the most productive player in the league until he got injured for two months in 23/24... it really shows how world class Salah is. By normal standards, the only off-season he's had is this one.

@timetodie5764 @AFC_Monty_ Yeah I mean... I'm a Liverpool fan and with the exception of Leicester, I've never watched another team's trophy lift and why would I? I'd be shocked (and confused as to why) if any rival fans had watched ours either.

@AFC_Monty_ They think the fact that only Arsenal fans will enjoy it is bad, even though it means people who are supporting us will not be fake and actually love the club.

@mikerizz33 @tritonpoker @TheMannheim @krissyb24poker She could be playing for 20 bucks and I'd still say the same thing, terrible fold. If they have aces it's just a cooler, no way you fold kings here. People salivate about being in this exact spot, it's a shove all day!

@Mslumpe @JoshCBurke93 That isn't correct. Each team gets 40 winners medals to distribute as they choose. The rule is that any player with 5 or more appearances HAS to get one but they can still give them out to players who have less and almost always do.

@Bernstein991Zio That's all fair and I mostly agree. I'm just saying that the first four titles that United won weren't as difficult for them to win as subsequent titles won by either them or other teams due to the fact there was no other elite team challenging them at the top.

@jayjsmith119 There were more competitive games then with players encouraged to win the games and express themselves. Imo football nowadays has too many coaches and tacticians, which results in teams all playing the same way. Was definitely more entertaining from a fans point of view then

Yes, of course it was easier to win if everyone is average rather than having one or two other world class teams challenging you for the title. What part of this are you not getting?
Isaac Bernstein@Bernstein991Zio

@jayjsmith119 @BriefTheUnited @wil59567 @22Hater_ 🤣🤣 contradict yourself so much. Yes the quality was more evenly spread. Of course it was easier to win 😂

@BriefTheUnited It's not as simple as that though. Competition isn't subjective and doesn't only apply to one area of any one league. If you have competition for the title itself is a totally different matter than if most of the league is evenly matched.

@jayjsmith119 My word, you're still going. A 20 team league, with 35 points between top and bottom, compared to recent seasons that have seen 60+ points difference, means that the league is less competitive than 90s/00s. It's as simple as that.

Again... I'm using the French League as an extreme example of why your point makes no sense. I understand they're not exactly the same. But facts are that there was a 35 point gap between 2nd and 17th in an 18 team league. It's very similar in that respect.
TheUnitedBrief@BriefTheUnited

@jayjsmith119 @wil59567 @22Hater_ You're the one that mentioned comparing french league 24/25, to the prem in 1997... One had a gap of 68 points between 1st and bottom, the other had 40 - over more games as you mentioned. But yeah, it's my logic that's flawed.

@BriefTheUnited @wil59567 @22Hater_ Of course it's the same. A farmers league is literally defined as that. A league that only have one or maybe two teams ever competing for the title. And what sort of logic is that comparing a 38 game season to a 34 one??? 🤣

@jayjsmith119 @wil59567 @22Hater_ The team relegated that season in the prem would have come 13th in the french league last season. Using the farmers league to compare as a competitive league is hilarious. The logic just is not the same.

Just to confirm so that people who aren’t clued up on Cantona’s time at Utd don’t get fooled by this stuff; In 97 you needed 69 points to win the title. Cantona scored 11 goals this season He made the PFA TOTY once in 7 seasonsc during the WORST era in Premier League history
Real Hater tweet media
Adam McKola@AdamMcKola

Are you dumb? Cantona won the league with Leeds then came to United won it every season he was at United apart from the one he was suspended during. Goal catalogue ridiculous, leader of men and basically decided where the league would be.

@BriefTheUnited @wil59567 @22Hater_ I don't understand how it's mind-blowing that their nearest rivals in City are poor. It's not complicated. They don't have very good competition.

@BriefTheUnited @wil59567 @22Hater_ 2 to 5 had 6 pts difference in the French league. 13 to 17 the same. Man Utd thumped the Premier League. Not to the same level that PSG did and I'm using an extreme example but the logic is the same. Just because the league is even doesn't make it competitive at the top.

@jayjsmith119 @wil59567 @22Hater_ Well no, that's not the logic. Psg thumped the league. And bottom team had 16 points lol. The prem 97 season had 2nd-4th finish on same points, and 18th-13th separated by 2 points. No comparison.

@wil59567 @BriefTheUnited @22Hater_ But it doesn't matter because they're 9 points clear... Which is entirely my point. They don't have any true competition when it comes to winning the league.

@BriefTheUnited @jayjsmith119 @22Hater_ It’s funny listening to sky 6 teams talking about whether the league is competitive or not. This is the first year in about 20 that the league feels somewhat competitive across the board.

@BriefTheUnited @wil59567 @22Hater_ By your logic the French league last season was a 'competitive' league, which PSG won by 19 points. Needed 31 points in 34 games to stay up, 34 to avoid relegation play offs, points were evenly distributed between the league aside from PSG (and last place but point remains)...

@BriefTheUnited @wil59567 @22Hater_ Because there was clearly only one team capable of winning it. If the lower teams are taking points from 'title rivals' like Newcastle and Liverpool because they weren't elite like Man Utd were then that doesn't make the league more difficult to win.
