If you suspect someone has meningitis, call 999 immediately. Do not wait for all the signs as some may not appear, it can develop quickly and they may become seriously ill. Taking fast action is the best way to get the treatment needed.

I have to say, the reaction on here to Archbishop Sarah’s pilgrimage is very disappointing. First of all, the facts: she is breaking her pilgrimage to attend the Lords to vote on the abortion amendments, which obviously took some organisation because the pilgrimage was long planned and the date of the Lords debate only announced on Friday.

We are devastated at the tragic loss of Um Salama Mohammed Abdullah a volunteer from the @SRCS_SD and Youssef Assaf, a volunteer from the @lebaneseredcross. No one should have to risk their life to save another.

I am 54 years old and I am currently lying in my bed just feet away from mother who is lying in her bed. She is currently scared and confused because Alzheimer’s is robbing her of every function she has ever known how to do. Please pray for her and for me. Life is fleeting. Enjoy being with your loved ones while you can.

With hostilities escalating across the Middle East, our priority is and always will be the safety of people caught in the violence. Across the region, Red Cross and Red Crescent teams are working in extremely challenging conditions to provide urgent, humanitarian support.

Building work is progressing... rather slower than expected due to the wet weather. Someone remind me of why I arranged this to start in January!

Boze the Library Owl 😴🧙‍♀️
I find it hard to believe we're debating whether ebooks count as real books at a moment when literacy has fallen off a cliff. I don’t care how you read, whether print books, ebooks or audiobooks. Read widely. Read daily. Read for any reason or none at all. Just read.

@pearlreads_ ebooks don't count as actual books, sorry.

Caring for loved ones living with dementia can be an incredibly rewarding thing to do. But there are a lot of challenges carers can encounter that aren’t always visible, such as stress, overwhelm and burn out, to name but a few. Sometimes this experience can be likened to an iceberg, as illustrated here, showing that what is visible is often only a small part of someone’s reality. If you’re a carer, what would your dementia 'iceberg' look like? Remember to check in on those around you, they may seem fine on the outside but be struggling deep down 💙 [Image description: A graphic of an iceberg illustrates the age-old iceberg analogy. In this instance, it highlights how a carer (for someone living with dementia) can appear fine on the surface but can be battling significant challenges that aren’t always visible to others. Words including sacrifice, selflessness, kindness, resilience and patience surround the top portion of the iceberg, whilst words including overwhelm, fatigue, anxiety, stress, burn out, frustration and grief surround the bottom portion of the iceberg.]

The Church cannot solve the world’s problems, but it can model a way of living that rejects a “them and us” narrative, the Archbishop of Wales, the Most Revd Cherry Vann, said in her sermon at her enthronement service #churchinwales #cherryvann #archbi... #Echobox=1763383315-1" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">churchtimes.co.uk/articles/2025/…

Pope Leo XIV
Pope Leo XIV@Pontifex·
The world needs honest and courageous entrepreneurs and communicators who care for the common good. We sometimes hear the saying: “Business is business!” In reality, it is not so. No one is absorbed by an organization to the point of becoming a mere cog or a simple function. Nor can there be true humanism without a critical sense, without the courage to ask questions: "Where are we going? For whom and for what are we working? How are we making the world a better place?"
