Please, everyone. Stop following Japanese accounts! Japanese Twitter is a pure and good oasis of beauty, and if we animals join, we’ll destroy it.

As a NY transplant, I feel compelled to acknowledge that I'm standing here today on the traditional unceded territories of the Native New Yorkers indigenous to this land, who came here 2 generations ago from Italy. We pay respect to the original peoples of this land

Years ago, I was running late for a job interview On the way there, a homeless man was laying across the sidewalk I violently kicked him so he'd get out of my way When I finally got to the interview, I was shocked to see who would be interviewing me It was the homeless man I just kicked The interview? It was at a company that gets paid to go around the city kicking homeless people until they move elsewhere He made me the CEO That's how it's done

*sadly I can't locate a vintage matchbook from the Warrior, but I bet they were spectacular. A couple of other surviving Sioux City gems: the Prairie Style Woodbury County Courthouse (1918) and the Native American-themed moderne Badgerow Building (1933)

The matchbooks from earlier today got me thinking about the Warrior Hotel in Sioux City. It opened in 1930, closed in 1976, miraculously went undemolished for over 50 years, and was restored to its former glory in 2020. A Streamline Moderne gem.

John Wayne gave custom-made coffee mugs with gold handles to cast & crew of nearly every production he was in from 1951 on. Here's The Quiet Man, The Searchers, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence, and Hatari!

ROYAL REFLECTION: President Trump opens up about his relationship with the late Queen Elizabeth II and her “genius” ability to remain diplomatic—never saying a bad thing about anybody. The president recalls trying to convince the monarch to reveal her favorite U.S. presidents and U.K. prime ministers, but to no avail, prompting a moment of self-reflection. “She was sort of the opposite of me. She didn’t mix it up.”

In 1990, Spy Magazine sent out checks with increasingly smaller amounts disguised as refunds to some of the richest people in New York as a social experiment, eventually sending one for 13 cents. Only two people cashed the 13 cent check: a Saudi arms dealer and Donald J. Trump.

There are still Buddhists in rural Pakistan. Around 650 families across Sindh, a dozen villages in the Rohi desert in Punjab. No temples, no monks. Every home keeps a small Buddha figure; rituals survive through oral tradition and a handful of Sindhi texts.

At the gym the other day Told a woman in my Pilates class that I'm headed to Dubai this weekend "Oh, is that for your husband's job?" she asked I was SHOCKED. "Nope," I replied. "It's for MY job. I'm a CEO." Her jaw dropped. Then she apologized profusely. Too late, honey. Next time, you'll think twice before questioning a boss babe like myself. Oh, and my company? I'm CEO of my OnlyFans account. My trip to Dubai is for a porn shoot.

Nun Day at Fenway Park was a cherished Boston tradition that dates back to the early 1960s. It originated as a special event organized by the Boston Red Sox, in collaboration with Boston Archbishop Cardinal Richard Cushing, to honor and host hundreds of nuns at a home game. The initiative began with an invitation from Red Sox owner Tom Yawkey to religious communities across greater Boston. Large groups of sisters, often dressed in traditional habits, attended games in significant numbers—such as the approximately 700 nuns who joined Cardinal Cushing for a doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers on July 5, 1961. The nuns occupied sections in the grandstand, typically on the third-base side, making for a memorable scene. The last major observance of ‘Nun Day’ appears to have occurred around 1972.

Inspired by the Code Pink Cuba trip, I'm reading up on the history of communist regimes inviting gullible western leftists in for luxury propaganda tours There's a book on this called "Political Pilgrims" but the Kindle version of it is $53. That seems... odd.

@billybinion Perhaps they feel that they'd be screwing over other nearby farmers by taking it: changing the land, adding traffic, making it easier for ED to be used on them, and lowering the water table.
