@campuschurchFL reminded me of this @CSLewisDaily quote: “Do not waste time bothering whether you love your neighbor; act as if you did. As soon as we do this we find one of the great secrets. When you are behaving as if you loved someone, you will presently come to love him.”

Pastor @JeffRedlin @campuschurchFL message on Worship reminded me of this @CSLewis quote: “The perfect church service would be one we were almost unaware of. Our attention would have been on God.” Worship is in spirit and Truth and focuses on God.

I was watching Monsters Inc. with my kids the other night. It’s one of my all time favorite Pixar films. But this time , I noticed a theme in the movie that was fascinating in connection with religion and Christianity specifically… In the movie, the City of Monstropolis is literally running on fear. Screams power the city. And when supply runs short, the establishment’s answer is simple… Scare harder. And never question the system. Mr. Waternoose and Randall threaten to silence anyone who threatens their system. But then Sully discovers something by accident. Boo’s laughter generates more energy than fear ever could. The very thing the system was suppressing (the joy of a child) was the most powerful force in the room. This is a near-perfect picture of the difference between Christianity and every other religion on earth. Every other religious system is fear-based. Do enough. Perform enough. Earn your way past judgment. The energy it produces is real, but it is exhausting and hollow. Christianity runs on something entirely different. The Apostle John writes that “perfect love casts out fear, and that we have no fear of judgment because of what Christ has already done.” (1 John 4:18) It is the love of God that compels us to obey and serve Him, not the threat of wrath. And just like Mr. Waternoose in Monsters Inc, there are those even within the church who would rather keep you afraid than let you discover how much more powerful grace and the love of God actually is. The movie has a happy ending when the old system is destroyed and Sully leads the city into a new era of using love and joy as a new system to run the city on. And so too has Christ done away with the fear of the law and judgment and given us hope in His righteousness that lets us come boldly to the Father as His forgiven children.

We are right on the precipice of surpassing $9.99/mo 2TB on our shared iCloud family plan and I can't believe the next storage tier is 6TB for $30!! Can't there be like a $15/20/mo plan? Literally TRIPLE the price. Sucks.

Details from the Apple Creator Studio announcement: 1) The Liquid Glass iOS 26 iWork (Keynote, Pages, and Numbers) icons from the iPhone 17 Pro's tech specs page will never ship, as this announcement shows new icons with dark mode options. These unreleased icons join the 2025 Liquid Glass icon graveyard along with Apple Clips. The new icons for all the creator apps don't feel like they fit with the rest of the Liquid Glass apps, as the dark mode ones look more like neon signs. Also no gradient in the Final Cut Pro and Motion app icons feels like the end of an era. Soulless. 2) The tech specs page for iPhone 17 Pro no longer shows built-in app icons, but the MacBook Pro page still shows the old app icons. 3) New icons but no Liquid Glass UI for the Pro apps: Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Motion, Compressor, and MainStage. The one exception is Pixelmator Pro. 4) Apple also updated the Keynote app UI by right-aligning the toolbar icons at the top (as shown in the promo images for the M5 MacBook Pro), and added new purple icons today for the newly announced AI features. Oddly though the toolbar icons for Numbers are not right-aligned. 5) GarageBand is oddly absent (thanks @antcpz_) from this announcement; iMovie too. Perhaps they were left out because they are already free and they don't have any AI features or UI updates. 6) Apple grouped Freeform with the other iWork apps. Is Freeform part of the iWork suite because it has AI features?

Apple loves a full-circle moment. Expect the Liquid Glass iOS 26 iWork icons when the M5 iPad Pro drops (just like when Keynote, Numbers, and Pages for iOS premiered with the 1st iPad in 2010.)

Christmas Carol History: Joy to the World Merry Christmas! Today concludes my "Christmas Carol History series. And what a great carol to end with! “Joy to the World” might be the most surprising Christmas carol in history, because it was never meant to be one. Isaac Watts wrote it in 1719 as a poetic paraphrase of Psalm 98, celebrating not the birth of Christ, but His triumphant return and eternal reign. Watts wanted believers to feel the joy of a world made new under the rule of the King who would one day come again. There is no manger, no shepherds, no angels. Yet every line pulses with the victory of Christ. Years later, the text was paired with a tune influenced by the music of Handel, giving it the majestic lift that pushes the song forward. That pairing transformed the hymn into the anthem we know, bursting with confidence that the Lord has come and creation itself is called to rejoice. Even though it was written for a different moment in redemptive history, the church quickly embraced it as a Christmas song because its message fits so naturally with the celebration of Christ’s arrival. What makes the carol powerful is its scope. It is cosmic. Sweeping. It invites the entire world to sing. Fields, floods, rocks, hills, and plains are pictured as joining the chorus. The curse is reversed. Grace flows far as the curse is found. This is not timid joy. It is the joy of a Savior who reigns. “Joy to the World” endures because it reminds us that Christmas is part of a bigger story. The child in the manger is the King who rules the world with truth and grace, and His joy is meant to echo through all creation. Merry Christmas! Sincerely, Josh #barzonDESIGN

“Precious in the sight of the Lord Is the death of His saints.” Psalm 116:15 So incredibly sad to miss my Grandad being here with us, but know it is expedited that he is no longer in the weak, frail state of this earthly tent. He is whole, now in Heaven, together with the Lord.
