A detailed and brutal look at the tactics of buzzy AI compliance startup Delve "Delve built a machine designed to make clients complicit without their knowledge, to manufacture plausible deniability while producing exactly the opposite." substack.com/home/post/p-19…

Tech startups, particularly those in SV, have gotten so used to stretching and bending the truth for decades, that some have taken to a point not discernible in anyway to outright lying.

No matter how long I live after we get through this dark chapter, I will never get over the immorality, the amorality, the corruption, the criminality and the cruelty in service to one of the worst humans to ever walk the earth.

Today’s military strikes on Iran — carried out by the United States and Israel — mark a catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression. Bombing cities. Killing civilians. Opening a new theater of war.  Americans do not want this. They do not want another war in pursuit of regime change. They want relief from the affordability crisis. They want peace. I am focused on making sure that every New Yorker is safe. I have been in contact with our Police Commissioner and emergency management officials. We are taking proactive steps, including increasing coordination across agencies and enhancing patrols of sensitive locations out of an abundance of caution. Additionally, I want to speak directly to Iranian New Yorkers: you are part of the fabric of this city — you are our neighbors, small business owners, students, artists, workers, and community leaders. You will be safe here.

The term “preemptive” is pure propaganda. The U.S. once again used the veneer of negotiations as a cover to bomb Iran. Tehran had just offered terms that went far beyond the 2015 nuclear deal. What was preempted was diplomacy. The same propaganda tactics used in 2003 Iraq war.

Bombing Iran in the middle of negotiations, while starving Cuba, while genociding Palestinians, while threatening to invade Greenland… the US and Israel are the single greatest threat to humanity and it’s not even close. We are all forced to live in the nightmare they create.

Here’s the thing about AI for everyone who works in tech, ALL of our skills have to evolve and grow. It’s really that simple.

@ImSh4yy @jsngr I would respectfully contend that research, testing, and iteration are part of the design process. I think too often people think design is just the visual exercise of optimally arranging pixels.

Nah, the truly hard part is figuring out what people want, getting it in front of them, and iterating until something sticks. Design is a differentiator, not the bottleneck. A lot of ugly products found PMF, and a lot of beautifully designed ones are dead. This is the designer equivalent of engineers debating their tech stack instead of shipping.

people like to skip the design process because it remains the truly hard part
Jordan Singer@jsngr

@juwiling still use Figma like always. lots of people say they're skipping it but I think the best products will still be designed together on a canvas where you can iterate quickly, refine details, and imagine different directions more broadly then jump to coding agents afterwards

The stumble is a warning - but not in the way Ross thinks. It’s a warning to everyone on the left - from the liberals in the center to the socialists on the far left: the rightwingers and their friends in the mainstream media will happily engage in smear campaigns and gotchas against Dems in way they never do against the GOP. That we are all talking about this AOC Taiwan answer and not the rest of her answers, or even the fact that the president is an imbecile and an ignoramus who couldn’t find Taiwan on a map of his life depended on it is what’s revealing and Dems need to be ready for this media climate come 2028
New York Magazine@NYMag

Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez’s appearance at the Munich Security Conference — one of the world’s premier foreign-policy events — seemed to be a step in the direction of higher office. It was supposed to be a triumphant foreign visit for Ocasio-Cortez, who is, on the national level, the best current hope for the American left, political columnist Ross Barkan writes. Though she acquitted herself well in a majority of the interviews and panels in Munich, one stumble stood out, writes Barkan. Questioned directly about whether the U.S. should send troops to defend Taiwan in the event of a Chinese invasion, Ocasio-Cortez stalled for about 20 seconds. “I think that, uh, this is such a, a — you know, I think that — this is a, um — this is of course, a, uh, a very long-standing, um, policy of the United States,” the congresswoman said. The stumble is “a warning for progressives,” writes Barkan. “It’s vital to approach certain foreign-policy and national-security issues, including China’s potential invasion of Taiwan, in a more sophisticated manner.” Read the full column: nymag.visitlink.me/UC9HNO

Ngl, the only designer I personally want to hear talk about how they use AI in their design workflow is @jsngr. Happy to learn of others but there is too much nonsense noise out there right now and everybody needs to take a breathe

SaaS is dead because, obviously, people in giant companies are highly motivated, love doing stuff, and can't wait to vibe code all the apps they ever need themselves. They hate getting on the phone and yelling at their rep in particular. Those days are over.

@holyn “Move fast and break things leaves no room for beauty.” ❤️ I find this the most hilarious aspects of the taste discourse. Silicon Valley spends all its time building, working and not enjoying or appreciating good works, not reflecting why they are good. Always moving.
