Was looking for a good bookmarking app that syncs across iOS/Chrome ext and came across an open source option: Karakeep. Hermes set it up for me in a few mins: - set up docker service - connected it to a Cloudflare tunnel so I can access it from anywhere via HTTPS - added OpenRouter API keys for auto-tagging and summarization The whole thing runs on my spare MacBook Air. No subscriptions, no cloud lock-in, my data stays on my machine. Self-hosting has never been this easy 🔥 @NousResearch @karakeep_app

Finally migrated my @karakeep_app docker container to my proxmox server! Quite smooth process. I'm really thankful that @MohamedBassem created such an awesome tool after Pocket was shut down. Now time to import my Twitter bookmarks, as search on this site is atrocious!

@mikemajara Yeah, read progress is easy specially if you’re going to read in karakeep itself. Media progress happens offsite though, so it’s more tricky. Also, curious, how did your poc know what query params to pass to the ted website to continue from the saved timestamp?

Thanks! Tracking reading progress has a workaround with notes. But media is harder to track. What I was playing around with is a UX where you can seamlessly input/detect a video progress, and then pick up were you left off with timestamped urls. Here is an experiment I was running wrapping around raindropio

Giving @karakeep_app a try since I see public beta is available now. Semantic search seems to be in the roadmap, automatic ai tagging is implemented, and I can go without the progress tracking for now. Will report back
