Anwar Ibrahim
Anwar Ibrahim@anwaribrahim·
==== Today I had a productive meeting with CZ, founder of Binance, to discuss the potential for Malaysia to become a major hub in the growing digital assets and blockchain industry. I welcome continued discussions with agencies such as the Securities Commission, Bank Negara Malaysia and the Ministry of Digital to explore ways to facilitate and promote responsible innovation. At the same time, it’s clear that government leadership is essential in driving blockchain adoption—such as through digitisation and exploring tokenisation of financial instruments and other use cases. With the right steps, Malaysia can position itself at the forefront of this global digital transformation. #MalaysiaMADANI #MADANIBekerja

Malaysia Blockchain Week
Malaysia Blockchain Week@MalaysiaWeek·
A Letter from Ex-#MYBW2024 Committee Member✉️ Hello everyone, We are the former committee members of Malaysia Blockchain Week 2024. Unfortunately, we have been unfairly removed by the core leaders of @MalaysiaWeek and @LydianLabsLLC@nonolee97 (Noelle) and @DoctorInGaming (Ian). After months of hard work and dedication to the event’s preparation, our contributions were exploited, and we were cast aside without explanation or respect. This betrayal has devalued and disregarded our team’s efforts. We feel it is our responsibility to share the truth with the Web3 community—industry professionals, KOLs, and users alike—to seek justice and ensure greater caution when selecting partners. We are determined to defend our rights and believe justice will prevail. Staying silent would only allow such actions to harm others in the future, and we are committed to preventing that from happening. 1. Control of Funds and Opaque Operations From the start, Ian and Noelle maintained a tight grip on fund allocation, operating with complete opacity. Financial decisions were frequently made without consulting the team. Although a Telegram channel was set up to track sponsorship and expenditures, it served as little more than a front. Ian and Noelle unilaterally made decisions on financial allocations. Furthermore, after the event concluded, no Profit and loss (P&L) sheet or financial report was shared to account for the inflow and outflow of funds, leaving committee members entirely in the dark about the event's financial status. For instance, key decisions such as booking the event venue and hiring contractors for setup were made without prior consultation with committee members or a public tender process. This lack of transparency bypasses fundamental practices that ensure fairness, accountability, and cost-efficiency in large-scale events. Unfortunately, Ian and Noelle not only disregarded these standards for the 2024 event but are now repeating the same approach for the 2025 event planning, privately selecting venues and contractors without involving the team. During the event setup, committee members worked over 20 hours a day on average. Despite this, Ian and Noelle only arranged accommodations for members of Lydian Labs (their own company) and a few of their close friends. The rest of the committee, working tirelessly on-site, were overlooked entirely and never informed that accommodations were available. As a result, after working grueling 20-hour shifts, some of us had no choice but to sleep in cars in the parking lot so that we could wake up early and continue working the next day. 2. Unpaid Dues Throughout the event, most committee members, including myself, never received payment or reimbursement for our contributions. Our sole motivation was to build the brand, promote crypto adoption in Malaysia, and support MYBW's vision. A particularly infuriating example involves Max, the committee’s Tech Lead, who dedicated months to developing the #MYBW2024 ticketing system and website. He was promised RM30,000 for his work, but even now, three months after the event ended, Ian and Noelle still haven’t paid him. When Max approached Ian about the overdue payment, Ian brushed him off with a dismissive comment: "You so rich already, still care for the RM30,000 meh?" This isn’t just about money, but basic respect for someone’s time and effort. It’s about fairness, accountability, and honoring commitments. Ian’s blatant disregard for the contributions of their team speaks volumes about their lack of responsibility and respect for those who worked tirelessly to make this event a reality. 3. Unexplained Removal from Committee Despite contributing months of hard work, Ian abruptly removed me from the MYBW committee Telegram group without any notice or explanation. The sudden removal left me shocked and furious. I was not the only one they kicked out. Each removal was done without any prior discussion or explanation. John, our Business Development lead, was the first to be removed despite successfully securing all the key investors and projects for the event. I was the second, even after handling all the social media, emceeing at the event, designing, producing, procuring, transporting, and distributing the merchandise. We’ve also learned that they planned to remove a third committee member, Geston, but decided against it for now because he had already secured new sponsors for Malaysia Blockchain Week 2025. It feels like everyone on the committee must live under their tyranny to survive or remain in the group. 4. Selective Sponsorship and Disrespect Towards Partners As MYBW faced financial challenges, I took it upon myself to find potential sponsors to help alleviate the strain. One promising opportunity arose from a well-respected and resourceful Chinese community known for hosting multiple successful blockchain events in China and earning the support of the Chinese government. They generously offered substantial funding, with the simple condition of hosting a side event or setting up a booth during the conference. However, during the conference call, Ian and Noelle displayed a dismissive attitude and blatant disrespect toward the representative from the Chinese community. They refused to engage constructively and rejected the proposal outright, claiming the sponsor wouldn’t attract prominent KOLs and dismissing the project as a scam. This was not an isolated incident. Ian and Noelle’s selective approach to partnerships became increasingly apparent. They worked only with sponsors that aligned with their personal preferences, outright rejecting suggestions made by committee members, regardless of their potential value. The disrespect didn’t stop there. During the event, a female representative from one of the Chinese sponsors expressed dissatisfaction over a mishandled issue and raised her voice slightly. In a later meeting, Ian and Noelle mocked her, saying, “She’s clearly Chinese—no manners at all.” This incident was especially hurtful for me as my girlfriend, who is also Chinese, was actively assisting on-site throughout the event. When she overheard their degrading remarks about her fellow compatriots in the meeting room, she felt deeply humiliated and discriminated against. Yet, out of professionalism, she chose to endure the insult in silence. 5. Stripping of Responsibilities Without Cause Last December, I joined the Malaysia Blockchain Week committee. By March 13 of this year, I had built the @MalaysiaWeek social media presence from the ground up, creating and managing the Twitter and LinkedIn accounts. I spearheaded content creation and account management while also taking charge of designing, procuring, and transporting hundreds of event merchandise. Despite these efforts, on May 15, Ian brought in a third-party social media agency without any prior consultation. Using the excuse of “reducing my workload,” he demanded that I hand over all access to the social media accounts, effectively sidelining me from the role I had worked so hard to establish. To make matters worse, my responsibilities were reassigned to another Lydian Labs member without any prior discussion. Even so, I still wanted to contribute more, but I was met with cold indifference from them. 6. Selfishness and Resource Monopoly Several partners revealed that they brought in multiple significant sponsorship projects for the event, only to be directly rejected by Ian when they sought a share of resources in return. Ian’s refusal to reciprocate not only reflects his dismissive attitude toward contributors but also highlights his self-serving nature. He seems intent on taking from others without giving back, believing that he can secure complete control by hoarding resources and connections for himself. This disregard for contributors and selfishness starkly contrasts the values of collaboration and resource-sharing that the crypto industry and community advocate for. Final Words As industry professionals, we are speaking out to bring clarity and integrity back to this space. While we understand that we may face retaliation, we remain committed to doing what is right. We also urge new partners to exercise extreme caution when considering collaborations with MYBW and Lydian Labs. In light of the actions of Malaysia Blockchain Week’s former leaders, Ian and Noelle, who have demonstrated betrayal and self-interest, several committee members and I have jointly decided to discontinue the current #MYBW brand. Moving forward, we are dedicated to starting fresh and offering free access to local blockchain resources to support the community’s needs. If you require assistance, feel free to reach out to us directly via private message. Although the path ahead may be uncertain, we are determined to put our energy into doing what is right and upholding the values of fairness and collaboration that this industry deserves. By working together, we can foster a unified and thriving blockchain community that drives meaningful progress for all. Best, Ex-Malaysia Blockchain Week Committee Member

Hi all, My name is Fizie, I’m 29 years old and from Malaysia. In October 2022, I was involved in a motorcycle accident while returning home from work. I have no memory of the incident and woke up in the ICU. The accident report said I skidded due to the wet, slippery road.
