BC Parks removed “Provincial” from the Cypress sign. That word told taxpayers exactly what this was: A provincial park. Public land. Public access. Provincial responsibility. Now it’s just “Cypress Park.” And we’re supposed to pretend this is just a cute little sign refresh? David Eby’s NDP is already pushing DRIPA, co-management, shared stewardship, Indigenous decision-making, land-use agreements, and reconciliation frameworks over public land. Joffre Lakes/Pipi7íyekw already showed British Columbians what “shared access” can look like when the public gets shut out. So yes, people are going to ask questions. Why remove “Provincial”? Why now? Who approved it? How many more signs are being changed? And how long before public parks become public in name only? First they change the words. Then they change the rules. Then they call you racist for noticing.

Yep. Not seeing colour was great. I remember it, you remember it. It happened, it was great and no amount of activist gaslighting will change that. Canada was obviously better before it imported leftist racism in bulk.
Amy Eileen Hamm@preta_6

One of the worst parts of DEI is that it makes many people assume that anyone who isn’t a white male is incompetent (see some of the comments on the original post, for instance). DEI is not only racist itself but it encourages people to react to it with more racism.

Everyone outside of the Western NY and Ontario, CA border is shocked that Buffalonians know the words to the Canadian National Anthem that are sung at every Sabres game. We’ve been deeply intertwined for decades and not just for a tight-knit hockey community- professional and youth. Growing up along the WNY/Ontario border in the 80s & 90s meant no-fee border crossing, no ID req’d, and we were only asked to state our citizenship. Summer vacations were spent along Canada’s south shores, where many WNY families still own cottages. SO many memories were made at Crystal Beach & Amusement Park, Canada’s Wonderland, water parks, and African Lion Safari. In our teens, we realized that Niagara Falls, CA puts the US side to shame. Lundy’s Lane is like a mini Times Square, except with full-nude full-bar gentlemen’s clubs, and Ontario’s legal drinking age is 19+! As teens we’d cross the border at 16 (still no ID req’d) and go to nightclubs showing fake IDs of drinking age. As we got older, we discovered Toronto and all the incredible shopping, restaurants, and culture it offers, along with professional sports teams and can catch a game almost any day of the week. BUF-TO is only a 1.5 hr drive without traffic. At least 25% of Bills fans in attendance at the games are Canadian, and many are season ticket holders! Buffalo, the City of Good Neighbors. 🇺🇸 🇨🇦

Canada you’re a complete embarrassment. In the US last night, the Americans sang the Canadian national anthem. In Canada, we booed. I’m disgusted with your behaviour.

There’s something so INSANE about people thinking the government needs to parent your children. Manitoba has just banned social media for children and to be honest this makes me want to give them more access. I parent my kids. I haven’t allowed them to have social media. That’s MY job. It’s not the government’s job. Their job is managing a budget for roads, hospitals, police and that’s pretty much it in my opinion. People clapping for this need to take some personal responsibility for their own lives. Worst part is - this has nothing to do with protecting kids. Look up how many child predators are in your neighbourhood for exhibit A. This is just the slippery slope to the government making you ID yourself for access to the internet - and for more Canadians to outsource their thinking to the government.

By the way I somehow managed to NEVER perform a single land acknowledgement, despite the workplace policy. I’m surprised no one reported me for it. I never have and never will utter a land acknowledgement.
Amy Eileen Hamm@preta_6

Land acknowledgments are presented as mandatory to many persons in public sector jobs, including health authorities like @VCHhealthcare where org policy says you MUST perform one if you meet with 3 or more people. No one should be forced to utter these divisive and highly-politicized statements as a condition of their employment. And yet that’s exactly the situation 1000s of BCers find themselves in. Any silly person who still wants to do a land acknowledgment will be allowed to do so. But the majority of us who are opposed would not be forced to.

This lady wants to ban free expression. Land acknowledgments are a practice they aren’t law She is saying she will ban us from doing something that isn’t even being done by law Isn’t that squashing my freedom? Feels like it

This is partially a subtweet against people who want the cultural destruction to continue, but are suddenly icked out at the inevitable consequences. When you force people to issue daily declarations that they live on stolen land, they stop defending the systems that were keeping you safe.
Tristin Hopper@TristinHopper

If you're wondering why Canada now has drug zombies and jihadist hate rallies in every downtown, you're merely witnessing our successful metamorphosis into a self-hating, post-national economic zone. This is what such places look like. It ends when we *stop* hating ourselves and desecrating our shared values.

THE GATES ARE LOCKING. Most of us think our Provincial Parks belong to everyone. We grew up camping in these woods and hiking these trails. But the signs are changing, the laws are shifting, and the “Provincial” part of B.C. is being stripped away right under our boots. From Joffre Lakes being closed to the public, to $16,000 signs being changed for “reconciliation,” the B.C. government is quietly handing over sovereign control of public land. This isn’t just about names; it’s about who has the final say over whether you’re allowed to enter. By 2030, the “30 by 30” plan aims to move 30% of our land into this new model. Your access to nature shouldn’t depend on your ancestry. Wake up, B.C….once the keys are handed over, we aren’t getting them back. Share this to let people know what’s happening in our backyard. 🇨🇦

Morgane Oger bleating about how he wants laws to criminalize any speech that he doesn’t like. He got a taste of victory at the BCHRT, and again when he helped rescind city funding for Vancouver Rape Relief. Oger’s days of “winning” are behind him. Reality is making a comeback.
