@MaryVought We should do the strike anyway. 1. These people's lives are miserable 2. It proves this tactic doesn't work. It would likely only take one.

I really hate that Trump tweet. Not because of its content, that’s normal tough man bravado to try and get a deal before he drops slightly more bombs than usual. I hate it because you people are insufferable.

Retaliation against infrastructure that would otherwise be protected under Geneva conventions is permitted in retaliation for other violations. Attacking shipping in the Strait of Hormuz is a war crime. Launching cluster missiles at civilian population centers is a war crime. Launching drone swarms at Dubai hotels is a war crime. Financing Hezbollah is a war crime. It is absolutely legal under the law of war to retaliate for Iran’s atrocities by targeting bridges and power plants. They were warned of what the red line was, and of what the consequence would be if they crossed them. Additionally, no foreign tribunal has jurisdiction over the actions of the US military. The only authority that can assess whether Americans committed “war crimes” are American courts.
Piers Morgan@piersmorgan

This is a brazen pre-admission of genocide against the Iranian people, which would obviously be a war crime. Madness.

It is unfortunate that the UN Security Council has once again failed to demonstrate effectiveness and act decisively in the face of such a global threat as the Iranian regime's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. No one should be allowed to block such globally significant sea lanes or undermine the security of dozens of nations through terrorist attacks against the freedom of navigation. We faced a similar challenge in the Black Sea when the Russians attempted to block our ports and civilian shipping—Russia was trying to suffocate our economy. And we found a way to solve that problem through decisive action, not inaction. Now, we see a similar problem on a global scale. The Strait of Hormuz must remain open to all vessels that sustain vital economy lifelines and maintain normal international trade. Countries in the region have spoken clearly on this, and we support the aspirations of the people of the Middle East and the Gulf for peace. Peace and security in this region directly impact stability, market predictability, and the cost of living in every single country. Such problems and this war must not be prolonged. The world needs a functional UNSC that acts more decisively to resolve acute security challenges of global magnitude.

A huge reason why there's this rift on the Right that didn't exist a year ago is because Neocons are not team players. They operate as political parasites, using our candidates and elected officials for their own ends without ever reciprocating anything in return. This isn't how stable political coalitions work. The entire point is that you join forces with people you may not agree with 100% of the time, but you still fight for their priorities so they will fight for yours. But Neocons like to pretend they're above all of that. They're a single-issue constituency. They will bounce between the Populist Right and Establishment Left so long as they get what they want. Case in point, many Neocons bitterly opposed Trump all three times he ran for office, and yet the moment the US began bombing Iran and delivering on the crown jewel that many of them had been working towards for over 25 years, did they turn around and repay the favor by supporting anything that Trump's base voted for? Of course not. The SAVE Act is still languishing in the Senate despite 100% of the GOP and 80% of the public wanting it to pass. Meanwhile, Neocons in Congress are signing on to a mass amnesty for criminal aliens bill and calling it "Dignity", despite stricter immigration arguably being THE signautre issue that Trump campaigned on and his base voted for three times in a row. The lesson here is simple. You cannot ally yourself with Neocons. Ever. They do not understand or care about the concept of political loyalty. They're bad actors who only care about permanent regime change wars abroad and will backstab you at home the moment you give them what they want. Working with Neocons is like "uniting with the Left".

The Dignity Act is mass amnesty and would constitute a terrible betrayal of our voters.

@RepNateMoran Dude, it's literally "The Art of The Deal." Everything Trump does, he states his most extreme positions publicly, and then negotiates behind the scenes. How do people not get this yet?

The United States of America must always be prepared to use overwhelming military force when necessary to defend our national security interests and protect Americans at home and abroad. And, a President should have the latitude to make decisions to that end, but only to the extent that those decisions are also consistent with the inherent authority of a Commander-in-Chief under the U. S. Constitution and the provisions of the War Powers Resolution. To date, I have supported the President’s decisions relating to the Iranian conflict because they were consistent with these authorities and the ultimate goal of protecting national security interests. At the same time, what sets America apart is not only our strength, but how we use it. Our nation has always conducted military operations for just causes and through just and moral means. This must continue in the future; otherwise we forfeit our legitimacy to lead the world. So, let me be clear: I do not support the destruction of a "whole civilization." That is not who we are, and it is not consistent with the principles that have long guided America.  I have and will continue to support a strong national defense—one that is focused, disciplined, and firmly rooted in protecting the safety and security of the American people. But, how we protect the lives of the innocent is just as important as how we engage the enemy. America is great because America is good.

The US is being forced to chose between their own interests & that of the rest of the world - or Israel's. We are weeks away from oil at $150+ Oil at $150 doesn’t just mean “high prices” it initiates demand destruction. Not instantly, but over months investment gets scrapped, businesses close, jobs go. The US isn’t insulated just because it produces oil. It produces light shale crude, but its refining system still depends on heavier imports. That mismatch means pain, especially in diesel which commercial vehicles rely on. You can't deliver the right fuels at the right scale without global trade. Even Russia that produces heavier crude doesn't want $150 oil. Its great for a few months, then your customers go bust and the demand is 'destroyed'. Only one nation wants this - specifically Netanyahu's government. Trump needs to accept a deal favourable to Iran because all other options are worse. This will politically extremely painful - and will need to be framed as a Chinese or European loss to save face. It really is that simple - this current US & Israel vs the World narrative is clearly not in the interests of the American people or anyone else. Its such as shame to see nonsensical propaganda holding such a vitriolic grip. The attempt to get Americans furious with Europe is clearly working. But it's misdirected, and serving Israel's not the US's agenda.

Europe is coping by saying that Americans are mad at Europe because the Jews manipulated us. No dawg it's because you are constantly insulting us and you wouldn't let our planes fly through your airspace. Israel didn't force us to reroute our bombing flights.
