McDonald's" products with "no spirit to them." Notice he didn't say: "products made by third rate teams" or "products with third rate resources." He said third rate products. Full stop. Because the quality of the output only ever reflects the quality of the care that went into it. You can throw unlimited money at a problem. You can hire the smartest people in the room. But if you don't genuinely care and are not willing to sweat the details that everyone else ignores, the work will always feel hollow. "No spirit to them." That's what happens when you optimize for speed or profit instead of care.
