@DemPanopoulos Turns out playing with 0 small defenders for a majority of a season because you only carry one playable one on the list with concussion issues + off an Achilles hurts - since Answerth concussion v MELB, Pickett (Q4)/Mannagh/Gothard all highest rated players on ground in losses.

Lot of talk on the drop-off in Brisbane’s midfield, which is absolutely deserved, but the defence is seemingly off the hook. Worst 1-on-1 loss rate in the league, all the talls are performing poorly and above their weight role-wise. Jack Payne is their most important player.

Sure, his intercepting’s down a bit, but that’s a byproduct of having absolutely no help while being caught on an island, but his contest work is superb. His ball use is fine, if they were a more direct team, he’d be vital. Keep him, let him teach Dean and HOF, respect him.

Find it amazing how through all the Carlton stuff, there’s negative Weitering discourse. Blues are conceding nearly 9 more i50s than they did last year. He’s defending more 1on1s than he has has in a few seasons, only losing 11%, the same elite number he’s had for years.
