The bankruptcy of NCP carparks in the UK is a classic example of listening to management consultants who will talk about "unlocking value", in NCP's case selling properties and leasing them back only to discover that lack of ownership has unforeseen consequences. Always own land

@BenGrahamUK They were bought by private equity who sold the land/car parks and have been paying rent on them since.

NCP has gone into administration. They’ve been running car parks since 1931, and somehow ended up £305m in debt. Surely the maintenance for a car park is simple: ticket machines, barriers, lights, and occasional cleaning. How can a business model literally based on people paying to park go bankrupt?

Normally, Cadbury's chocolate is full-price just before Easter. Every shop I've been in, it has been discounted by 20 to 50% for the Mini Eggs range. I tried a small bar, and the taste has completely changed. It's tasteless & oily. What happened to Cadbury?

@DanNeidle How are they alerting them? An email to an address that might have been changed? A letter posted to a changed address? Anyone that has been compromised and had their details changed are unlikely to be notified and are the ones who need to be!

Companies House has now alerted all five million UK companies of the vulnerability that let anyone, anywhere in the world, access the private dashboard of any company. Meaning: view confidential personal information, modify company/director details, even file accounts.

@BenGrahamStocks Really? Our house runs for free over the year and our 2 EVs running costs are massively reduced. Costs us about £600 to heat and run the house and run 2 high mileage EVs for 12 months

@blaiklockBP It’s also coming to the end of the cold months. You shouldn’t need a whole load of oil right now. In about 4 weeks my electric heating gets switched off

On Saturday 28th February AFTER the crisis had started, the price for 1000 lites of heating oil was £676. I know because I bought some . The price is now £1371 No one is talking about central heating oil .

Call me Mr Bastard, but might I suggest a prison sentence would be more of a deterrent than a fine the consumers will inevitably end up paying?

This is the biggest flaw with Donald Trump. After the 2016 election, Bloomberg called to wish him luck. Told him, “You’re president now. Hire people smarter than you.” Trump’s answer? “That’s impossible. There’s nobody smarter than me.” I was there when he said it. Maggie Haberman later confirmed it in The Confidence Man. That line tells you everything. Leadership isn’t about omniscience — it’s about surrounding yourself with people who challenge you. If you think you’re the smartest person in every room, the room eventually shrinks to fit your ego.

@McFranchisee @McDonalds Terrible burger. The best burger they’ve done was the 1955 burger released in the UK in 2011 and 2013. The big arch is nothing in comparison, a Big Mac is better

Big Arch inside info… 🍔 @McDonalds is adding the new half-pound fresh beef Big Arch burger starting March 3. Internationally, it’s been out as an LTO and was actually bigger in a few markets. Why the difference (IMO)? We utilized our premium ingredient unique to the US market: no other country has fresh beef quarter-pound patties. The price aligns with the size, and it sticks with our fresh beef premium standard. Side note: I’ve always thought of this as the CEO’s sandwich. He was actually in the test kitchen in 2019 when it was created, so the idea that he’s never had one doesn’t track with how it actually came about. Let me know what you think you try it

I was stuck behind some sort of Kia EV for several miles earlier, and soon realised the driver was really only steering. Various bits of tech were doing everything else. The result was hugely inconsistent and unpredictable driving patterns. [1/3]

I must admit having used SIMS all my career I was hesitant about moving to Arbor but I am really impressed. It is fantastic for attendance. I love all the report templates and the ease of using it! Certainly a change to celebrate! 🙌 @ArborEdu

We’re proud that Arbor is the UK’s most-loved MIS, according to a recent survey by The Key. But why not hear it directly from a handful of the 12,000 schools and 850 trusts using Arbor? Read what they had to say here: hubs.li/Q042Sj8x0
