@thomasforth While it is interesting and it’s definitely driven by politics. I could count on 1 hand the benefits so far unlocked by having a metro mayor in Manchester to those in the north … which is pretty much equated by the impediments created.

I'm going to do a timeline of Leeds' major public transport (and some other) schemes so I can explain why the railways aren't electrified, why we can't just reopen some stations, why no-one is proposing a metro, or a crossrail, or longer trains, why the tram route is not great.
