How fucking stupid are you? The timing is exactly what pressure and deterrence are supposed to do. If a country changes course right before a deadline, that usually means the deadline mattered. You don’t have to call it a total surrender to recognize that the U.S. forced Iran into a position where it had to respond. The real question isn’t whether the optics are perfect — it’s whether U.S. leverage produced results, and on that measure, it clearly did.

A minister proudly boasting about complex oil deals while posting the wrong map of his own country is peak diplomatic comedy. If step one identifying your own borders already goes off the rails, imagine the negotiations. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud @HassanSMohamud of Somalia made his name as corrupt thieving President who sold every piece of land in Mogadishu and stole every penny in the coffers of the state. His thievery has few parallels in Africa. With 35 days to go on his term and facing political oblivion and possible jail term and with the fake constitution he wrote in his bedroom lacking an iota of legitimacy and traction, Hassan Sheikh wants to start civil war throughout Somalia. This fire he wants to ignite in Baidoa is solely lit to extend his tenure and continue his corrupt enterprise ad infinitum. He has now mobilised some family militia and wants to create havoc in South West State with a view to overthrow President Abdiaziz Laftagareen. Hassan Sheikh must be stopped and defeated and then given a safe passage out of office in 35 days. His scheme to embroil Somalia in a new cycle of civil war is a cynical ploy to extend his illegitimate and corrupt regime. He must stopped.

HSM “There is no justification to spill the blood of a fellow Somali citizens.” Yet he’s preparing to shed that very blood in Baidoa. Targeting a city of 1.5 million people simply because its residents insist on governing their own affairs isn’t just reckless it’s a deliberate choice to ignore his own words and endanger innocent lives. It will not end well and ultimate benefactor will be Alshabaab as he points out in the same breath.

OH NO 😬. @HassanSMohamud My PESO and POWER It was right there in my fingertips built on coercion, favor-peddling, bribery, and bulldozing every obstacle in my path in the noble quest to cling to power. The dream was so close i could almost taste it… and then it all came crashing down. Tragic. Truly. So close. Now all that’s left are two options: make the least bad choice, or double down like you always do and drive this thing straight into bloodshed, defeat, and disgrace. History suggests you’ll grab a shovel and start digging the hole even deeper. But who knows maybe there’s a tiny spark of self-preservation left. One month, That’s all that’s left in your term. You could course-correct, accept reality, and quietly fade into irrelevance. Or don’t. Watching self-inflicted collapse seems to be more your style anyway.

As former PM Ali Gedi pointed out , virtually the entire HSM’s home towns fell. Yet somehow, here he is, scraping together the last fragments of the SNA as if endangering a city of 1.5 million people is a show of strength. Baidoa needs stability, not another manufactured crisis. President @HassanSMohamud has one month left in his term, and if he insists on charging down this catastrophic path, he will simply repeat his failure in Kismaayo only this time with even more blood on his hands. Quite the farewell tour.

The threat of escalating politically motivated violence in South West State is troubling. There are still political solutions if the federal government is serious about honest dialogue on elections. The potential innocent victims of the current violent strategy are concerning.
