@RocketkenOG @mileslainte The behavior/culture is linked with their race. While some rise above, not all of them do.
It's best to understand that and heavily restrict these people from coming into the nation in the first place.

@SciencNews Book recommendation for anyone considering seeking a PhD in the sciences (has been updated, but original edition is from 1993, so not a new concept): amazon.com/PhD-Not-Enough…

@TJTackleberry @ZazCarla @RandyEBarnett Does “who belong to the families of embassadors or foreign ministers accredited to the Government of the United States” stand alone? Or qualify “foreigners, aliens,” so only such foreigners or aliens were excluded? To me, latter reading seems more likely, but it’s ambiguous.

@climatepaige @deedydas Fair games have clear rules. Fine to say high GPA/SAT are necessary but not sufficient, but then what is sufficient? Why is there so little transparency? If it's random (above a threshold), why not explicitly so (e.g., lottery)? Must it be inexplicable (or even ineffable)?
English

@IfesinachiMD @deedydas Are you saying the link you posted is the personal statement of the Reddit poster's son? If so, what's the basis for linking the two?
English

Let’s take a look at the applicant’s personal statement. There was a student with top grades, a strong ACT score, and multiple entrepreneurial ventures—on paper, incredibly impressive. But after reading his personal statement, it became clearer why he may have faced so many rejections despite his non-academic achievements:

@LuizaJarovsky This is hilarious and must be allowed. Any dissenters should be condemned as the uptight, anti-fun whingers they are. Attempted humor always ethical unless grossly negligent (even then, often still ethical).

🚨 AI deepfakes: Basketball team Indiana Pacers used an AI filter to make fans from the opposing team (LA Lakers) cry on the big screen. Watch:
Are there ethical limits on the use of AI deepfake filters?
When people join a basketball game, they might have the expectation of being shown on the big screen.
Do they expect to be shown crying? Do they expect to be shown with a face or facial expression that is not theirs?
In any case, LA Lakers won the game.

@JerseyJoeWalc @Tyler_A_Harper 2 million people take the SAT each year, which means you're talking about 20k people. MIT has a freshmen class of 1100 kids. It's basic math.
English

I spent years tutoring admissions; the ugly reality is that 4.0/1500+ SAT strivers are a dime a dozen. Elite admissions are like a nuclear arms race: a mindless fever to produce more and better products (whether bombs or elite students) knowing you can't possibly use them all.

@savanvyas91 @AkaashSingh “Fake lies”? Explain that - when a lie is fake, is that a truth? Also what’s a fake account? Genuinely curious - do you think I’m a robot or some Russian or Chinese stooge? Also, why are you so against comedy - I had assumed you’re just a Modi stan, but is there nuance?
English

@savanvyas91 @AkaashSingh Strange given how much brain your mom has given me. (You won't understand that statement, given you don't like or understand humor. I look forward to your forthcoming angry insult, as you're not clever enough to say anything else.)
English

@aravind India drug manufacturing is poor - so is China's. No requirement for ongoing, onsite monitoring by FDA of overseas generics manufacturers; it's self-certification and occasional on-sites that can be gamed. Look into Ranbaxy scandal and related corruption. Not a one-off.
English

Good luck and good riddance. Doubt China will let you take advantage of its military spending and plunder its tech companies, citing digital markets/privacy regs. If not Trump tough love, Mr. Xi will gladly get you to heel beneath his boot. We don't care - you've declined so far you've nothing to offer.
English

@Ignoranciaaguda @MikeDKirby @GLandsbergis Why stop threatening the US with China?
I mean, Trump turned your back on Europe and although I think that we should invest more money in our defense (we're doing it now), it's not that America should try to break EU and give Putin what he wants.
So, yes, I'd use China against US
English

@_BlondeKing @atalovesyou Founded by people fleeing Europe’s dysfunctional, autocratic, oppressive BS. Don’t replicate that nonsense here. If you love Europe so much, perhaps go back, Frenchie.
English

@atalovesyou I doubt it works like that, but it's definitely how it should be. The country has European founders!
English

@samrosentweets @Athan_K Sure. Though I don’t know that that’s economists’ fault, and rather than shoot the messenger, I welcome their attempts to run experiments and produce data as to whether various flavors of UBI are palatable given the costs if scaled.
English

@multitudinality @Athan_K Maybe. But I think we do a pretty bad job of actually measuring psychological impact. And to be fair it’s a hard thing to measure!
And I think it’s important that we don’t mistake absence of evidence for evidence of absence.
English

@samrosentweets @Athan_K *of seeing this effect <<if unrelated>>
English

@samrosentweets @Athan_K “Significant” does not mean large. Just less than 5% chance of seeing this effect, even if effect size is minuscule. E.g., may be marginally more likely to make rent, but once paid, have less in hand for other expenses, so not feel psych/financially better off.
English

@OPRisely @nicknorwitz @CollinRugg If serious, recommend more research first. Do you understand different size/density lipoproteins, LPa levels, difference between LDL-C and LDL-P, the lean mass hyper responder hypothesis, etc.? If not, you have far too little information to take extreme steps.
English

NEW: Man eats 720 eggs in a single month and his cholesterol drops by 20%.
Nick Norwitz (@nicknorwitz) ate one egg per hour for a month.
"Even though my dietary intake of cholesterol more than quintupled, my LDL cholesterol actually dropped."
English

@RoKhanna Outrageous - the Commander-in-Chief of the US Air Force should direct them to clean it up immediately. Wait . . . who and where exactly is the Commander-in-Chief of the US Air Force right now?
English

@ThatHanselGuy @peterrhague @elonmusk Just ban X, Google, Apple, Meta, Tesla, Amazon from Europe. Get it over with. Good luck controlling Huawei, Yandex, WeChat, Alibaba and BYD. Good-bye Europe. USA out. (Also kindly repay all overdue war debts post haste, or asset repossession will commence.)
English

they expressed concerns about European citizens being flooded by disinformation.
USA and UK are out from DSA legislation.
besides the platform abided to comply with it.
The rules are those, don't like them? fine.
but European legislation applies to large online platforms no exceptions if you want to operate within European market.
You sure Brexit didn't happen due misinformation?
English

Even if you support European integration, you should oppose the EU, and here is why.
In a schoolmarm like tone they are threatening @elonmusk in the context of a space he is doing with Trump - one of the candidates in the US Presidential election. What such candidates can or cannot say surely can’t be dictated by some unelected Brussels bureaucrat.
These folks fancy the EU as a “regulatory superpower” meaning that they control access to such a large market that multinational corporations must comply with their regulations even beyond the borders of the EU.
To the extent this is still true - the economic relevance of the EU is dropping like a stone - it’s an affront to freedom. The EU is undemocratic enough for its own citizens, and nobody outside the bloc ever voted them the power to impose their heavy handed regulations.
