Sorry to panic you! There aren't any sensitivity settings that would help. However, earthquake early warning is always under improvement. Fill out a felt report- that's a good way to log that you got an alert, but not a lot of shaking. That information is looked at by scientists to get an idea of how well the alerts perform and what can be done to make things better.

@MyShakeApp @Cal_OES Hello! The MyShake alert for this woke me up in a panic, but the rumble was negligible in my home I wonder if there’s a way to reduce the app sensitivity? I don’t want to wake up in the middle of the night for no reason, but I also don’t want to turn off alerts

A M4.9 #earthquake occurred today at 1:41am near Boulder Creek, CA. MyShake issued early warning alerts to our users in the region where felt shaking was expected. Hi there, you can send us a message at myshake-info@berkeley.edu and we can help figure out what why you and your mom didn't receive an alert. Earthquake alerts are considered critical emergency alerts and override your phone's volume setting and do not disturb so this is something we would want to know more about.

@MyShakeApp @Cal_OES My mom and I did not receive an alert on myshake despite being in that alert perimeter. My mon did receive a Google alert on Android though, but her phone was on do not disturb.

When an earthquake happens and you're sleeping, stay there, roll over onto your stomach, and cover your neck with either your hands or a pillow (and don't put anything that can fall on you near where you sleep). Drop, cover, hold on is the right action most of the time- but this is one of the few exceptions especially useful at 1 am.

This @MyShakeApp earthquake warning app actually worked. I got the alert (woke me up) and then I felt the earthquake. Did I actually get up and take cover? No, but I could have and that’s the point. I will next time.

Hi there, emergency alerts are sent out for earthquakes with a magnitude estimate of 4.5 and greater. The biggest one near San Ramon was M4.2 and the estimate at its max was 4.4- so no alert. The other ones have been smaller than that- there's just a lot of them. You should have gotten informational pop-up notifications for these earthquakes- if not, send us an email at myshake-info@berkeley.edu.

@MyShakeApp has been acting funky again. No alerts for the earthquake that I didn’t feel (again).

@dss358 Open the app, go to settings, and click "HomeBase Location"- you'll see a teal square. Don't worry if the teal square doesn't perfectly fit where you are- as long as it's in the ballpark, you'll get alerts for decent shaking from big earthquakes that affect that area.
