I’ve had a front-row seat to one @baseballhall candidate my whole life — my dad, @dalemurphh3. People talk about the “character clause” keeping guys out. For him, it’s the opposite — his character is a reason we often say to put him in. I see it on display constantly: camping with his grandkids, hyping up crowds with my daughter in the DR, planning surprise picnics for his granddaughters, and he and my mom pouring their lives into helping my brother with special needs live a full, joyful life. It’s not just the big things you see in public. He does the little things too. But make no mistake. On the field, he was one of the most dominant players of the ’80s. And baseball fans everywhere remember it. I hope we can remember the dominant ones of the 80s this weekend.

One of the biggest fans of Dale Murphy is his son Jake. He believes his dad belongs in the Baseball Hall of Fame not just for his incredible career - but for the legacy he created with fans across generations. #MurphyToTheHall

The only reason I reached a childhood dream in athletics should be 100% credited to playing catch in the yard. I have been addicted to all sports since I can remember. Thinking back on it, I credit this passion for all things sport to playing catch and shooting free throws in front yard with @DaleMurphy3 The best performing and most passionate youth athletes aren’t the ones who have the best and most expensive private coaches. It’s the ones who spontaneously go out and PLAY with their friends, siblings, PARENTS, etc. Key word there being PLAY not “GET COACHED”. Want to get your kid into sports and have them LOVE it? Participate with them as much as you can. Forget your skill level in that sport. No one cares. Go out there in the yard with them and have a catch, throw the pigskin around, shoot some hoops, etc. Start delegating their development out through hiring as they develop their passion and coordination. It will save you money AND make them better long run, but most importantly it will improve your relationship with them.

Today is my 36th birthday. I'm thankful for all of the well wishes and messages I've received so far. Today, I have something bigger on my mind.
