@obez2012 @Arsenal It’s deliberate. Odegaard even pointed to that early on. He was telling them to build from the right. No idea why

🚨 Arsenal explored different options for the striker position last summer. Andrea Berta held reservations over the Benjamin Sesko deal, especially when factoring in salary, bonuses & commission. The Italian spearheaded Arsenal’s pursuit of Viktor Gyökeres, though he would have proceeded with Sesko if instructed, but made plain he considered it a bad deal. In the end, Arsenal and Mikel Arteta aligned with his recommendation. ❌🇸🇮 [@gunnerblog]

Mikel Arteta on why Norgaard has NOT played regularly: “Because these guys have been exceptional. I had to leave two players out of the squad [vs. Newcastle]. At the end, Mikel [Merino] is out & they were Christian & Richy [Calafiori], so that’s going to happen.” “As I said, if the Premier League allows us to have 20 or 22 players, we can have everybody involved & hopefully next season that will be the case.” ❌🇩🇰

@Mo_Arsenal9 If he plays 8/10 and releases the ball quickly he’s exceptional However when he plays 8/6 he interferes with build up, slows it down, hangs on to the ball too long, frustrates and disrupts the equilibrium/play of some of his teammates etc etc

Apart from that nonsense pass from him, I’ll never understand how some Arsenal fans still don’t fully appreciate what Ødegaard brings to this team. Arsenal are a noticeably better team when Martin Ødegaard is on the pitch. If you disagree, sorry, but you’re just wrong. He’s the glue that holds everything together, both on and off the ball. When crowds got frustrated after Madueke mistake, Ødegaard immediately stepped in, telling the fans to stop moaning and lift the energy instead. The crowd listened, responded, and kept that positive atmosphere going until the final whistle.

The Martin Odegaard conundrum. Odegaard’s physical levels have dropped even further this season due to constant injuries. There’s also a long-standing issue with his execution — his passing, weight of pass, pass selection, and shooting. He’s visibly limited, yet at the same time, he remains one of Arsenal’s most technical midfielders, their most reliable buildup outlet, and one of the only players capable of carrying the team up the pitch. That says a lot about how low the overall technical level of Arsenal’s midfield currently is. Zubimendi and Declan Rice lack the ability to consistently evade pressure in the first phase and connect midfield to attack, so Odegaard ends up doing all of that whenever he’s on the pitch. Arsenal need to phasing him out next season, and they have to be absolutely spot-on with his replacement. It has to be a midfielder with elite technical quality, someone who can receive and turn under pressure in the first phase, progress the ball vertically through passing, connect midfield to attack, and still hold their own physically in midfield duels.

@now_arsenaI x.com/scrapytweets/s… Yeah…Arsenal are better with Odegaard on the pitch…🙄 Let’s ask Gyokeres or some of his frustrated teammates telling him off in game for holding on to the ball too long etc…🙂

Arsenal are simply a better football team when Martin Ødegaard is on the pitch. If you disagree, I’m sorry but you’re wrong. On and off the ball, he’s the man that keeps it all together. There was even a moment in the second-half when Noni Madueke made a mistake and there were slight groans from the home supporters. The Arsenal captain essentially told the fans to stop, and lift the energy. The Emirates crowd listened and followed through until the final whistle. How some Arsenal fans don’t appreciate Martin Ødegaard, I will never know. Four more to go and with the captain on the pitch, we have a great chance of winning them all.

🚨 Arsenal have opened talks with Sporting's Maxi Araujo. They are firmly in the market for a new left-back in the summer. Mikel Arteta believes Myles Lewis-Skelly's future doesn't lie in defence and Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapié are square pegs in round holes at full-back. (Source: Record PT)

@BeyondThePosts_ @FabrizioRomano @BeanymanSports Yes, compared to the positive high pressing front foot forward football we played against a high flying City We were lucky we were playing against a poor depleted Newcastle who we just managed to scrape past & in the process made to look like a footballing God! We need goals…
