Australian food is the best in the world. Like the Romans, we've taken good ideas and perfected them.
Cappuccino? Better than Italy.
Banh Mi? Better than Vietnam.
Hot chippies? Best in the world.
Any food you can think of will be better in Australia than their home country.

communist captain obvious 🍉@pippercorn
australian chips are the best in the world though

This is today’s left.
Her husband has cancer, and their first instinct is cruelty.
Then they wonder why Americans are walking away from them.

Tulsi Gabbard is out. Bye bitch. 👋

@mcnaughthelen1 I don’t think New Zealand has ever made a good TV show

I’ll say it again. I was a never Trumper in 2015. I couldn’t stand the guy.
His first term gave me mixed emotions, but ultimately, the smear attack of Justice Kavanaugh forced me to vote for Trump in 2020.
I stayed up and watched the election. It was absolutely rigged. I watched the disaster of the Biden “presidency” and the faux anointed of Kamala without a primary.
I enthusiastically voted for Trump in 2024. He has absolutely earned my trust and I’ve realized how much BS I believed from the media and spouting mouths about him.
I have no clue why he’s not wiping his ass with Thune right now, but he’s holding off for some reason. I don’t like how expensive gas is, but Iran has been at war with us for decades and we finally have a president and an administration with brass billiard balls to kick their teeth in.
This president is the best of my lifetime. All the podcastlandia mouthpieces are desperate for attention. Trump is desperate for results.
He’s got my confidence. He’s earned it.

@RepShriThanedar It’s almost like someone hired her with no experience

Because her husband, a New Zealander from south Auckland, has bone cancer.
Not relevant enough @rnz_news to put in your anti-Trump headline?

Yeah Australia only invented wifi, cochlear implants, black box flight recorders, the pacemaker... This chip startup probably nothing
bubble boi@bubbleboi
Someone was trying to pitch me on this Australian chip startup and I was like seriously … Australian ? 😐

@GayNoumena sour cream is disgusting, I hate how it's standard
English

@sunshinehaze1 @cjsbishop That’s $23 a week. Probably the average amount of a lotto win.
English

A pensioner phoned Nick Mills this morning. He is in a kianga ora unit. He said that with the new policy, his rent will increase by $1200 per year. What a sad state of affairs. @cjsbishop
English

@RealBrittHughes It depends on the type of food and quality of restaurant. For example, I think I get better tasting Peruvian, Thai, and Indian food in a restaurant.
English

@RealBrittHughes We are finding that. You spend $300 and could have eaten better at home.
English

@raven_brah This is the most stunningly stupid thing I’ve read all year.
English

@biggsintweets Average lotto win is about $30. So she’s absolutely correct
English

i’m no political pundit or expert but this feels like a statement that should probably be a career-ender
henry cooke@henrycooke
Nicola Willis says people in social housing have "effectively won the lotto". "They get so much more support than a family with just as low an income in a private rental."
English

@GaryPayinda The average lottery win is probably $30. So she’s absolutely correct

This is not the National Party I knew from 20 or even 10 years ago.
It's a new level of meanness that isn't good for the nation.
Scapegoating someone else isn't the solution to our problems. Least of all the disabled or in this case, the users of public housing.
I work in an ED treating patients from a wide swathe of backgrounds. And I can tell you that living on the benefit is not easy, not pleasurable, not good for one's health, and not fun. No one would knowingly choose it unless your other options in life are really rough: layers of problems to get out from under. And for too many in NZ, it's that.
Unaffordable rents, dizzyingly priced housing, weak and backwards-sinking wages, lack of access to basic things like healthcare, education that is truly a 'postcode' lottery.
And a crushing job market right now. And in Northland, all of the serious challenges that are faced by people without affordable transportation, isolated by distance and low wages/incomes.
In a country that rewards electricity corporations, supermarkets, and banks with some of the most disproportionately excessive profits of all the developed countries.
And a Coalition govt, that has with its every breath, helped the giant tech companies avoid taxes, used taxpayer money to assist tobacco companies, oil and gas companies, and property investors. And gone after workers' rights, and weakened or killed laws that would have helped low-wage workers and women workers.
Apparently there is enough money in govt for welfare to continue unabated...but only for those who are Coalition government 's highest priority: the multinational corporates, the owners, and the donors.
We must elect a govt that looks out for people. What we have now is not that.

@jrhennessy I just learned Zambrero has more Australian locations

I had a LOT riding on Guzman Y Gomez becoming America's #1 fast casual Mexican chain. I think it was Australia's last shot
