Python has LTS releases, people just want free stuff. Each *annual* release gets five years of patches. That's already a long time for free software. Want longer? @ActiveState and @anacondainc and others will help you. Or hire someone to do it. Stop begging volunteers.

Former coast guard, can confirm. Went to a Navy school, and after they got their usual jokes and prodding in, I would ask how much they deployed. In less than 5 years, I hit every continent, my last 3 years I deployed on average of 8 months out of the year. - puddle pirate

@haxor @zooba github.com/matplotlib/dat… We (pyqtgraph) haven't begun work on this yet, but we are watching that repo closely and have been invited to contribute. I'm already struggling to keep up with incoming PRs so I haven't spent much time on this yet, but the prospect is exciting.

Something I like about Python and C++ is that when you call a function, you can pass in whatever you have and the func will figure out if/how to use it. A good API is very accepting. Something I dislike about type checking in Python is that it takes this away. Forced to conform.

@haxor @zooba One thing about protocols is they can be shared across projects that are in a similar space. For example, matplotlib is considering implementing protocols and if they do, pyqtgraph, a library i maintain will attempt to support at least a subset of the protocols.

According to a senior U.S. defense official: No U.S. carrier aircraft engaged Iran’s incoming missiles - in others no aircraft from the USS Eisenhower (or Ike) carrier strike group which is in the Red Sea engaged Iran’s missiles or drones last night The USS Carney, a destroyer in the Eastern Mediterranean shot down one ballistic missile And the USS Arleigh Burke engaged (shot down) 3 ballistic missiles before they could threaten Israel.

@haxor I don’t use zip app but it’s on the roadmap. My library gets deployed to networks with very aggressive restrictions. Including no access to pypi. Zipapp solves the issue of bundling my (pure Python) dependencies

@moyix Oh you already have an AIO on your CPU and your CPU is still overheating?? Assuming the fans on your AIO are set to blow upwards, then all case fans should be intake.

Does anyone have advice on keeping 4xA6000 GPUs in a desktop tower cool (aside from water cooling; I am not mechanically apt enough to do that with this kind of hardware). Works mostly OK now but if I have high CPU load and moderate GPU it eventually overheats…

@moyix Yeah that’s a blower card, which is what you want for compact setups. I suspect best thing you can do is an AIO for your cpu. Those GPUs will exhaust a ton of air so maybe all case fans to intake (except for fans at top of case)

@ogimoore Think so – they blow out the back of the case (past the DisplayPort ports) and have a fan at the other end that presumably tries to pull air from below (and probably somewhat up into the cards above...)
