Lee Wallace is widely respected by Rangers fans for remaining with the club after its 2012 liquidation and demotion to the Third Division. He served as club captain starting in 2015 and led the team back to the Scottish Premiership in 2016. Signed by manager Ally McCoist from Hearts for a reported fee of £1.5 Million, Wallace remained at #RangersFC for 8 Years . The full-back would go on to make 241 appearances for the club, scoring 25 goals in the process. Lee served and led Rangers during some of the most turbulent and traumatic years in the history of the Club, a stand-out performer in the lower leagues and a driving force behind the side returning to the Scottish Premiership in 2016. Relishing the attacking wing-back role handed to him under Mark Warburton, ‘skip’ would score 7 times in 36 league appearances as the Scottish Championship was secured in season 2015/16. There can be little doubt that playing in the lower leagues impacted Lee’s personal development and it was to the detriment of his aspirations with the National team. He would find himself performing against part-time sides at a time when he should have been reaching the peak of his career. Lee was more than willing to make those sacrifices, fiercely proud to captain the world’s most successful Club and he did so with great honour and dignity whilst commanding the full respect of those all around him. A model professional who lives and breathes football and a true gentleman off the pitch, Lee epitomised everything a Rangers player should be. 💙His loyalty will NEVER be forgotten by the Rangers support.💙
