@dcook My rule of thumb is if its complex and in a class, at the top of the file, it its simpler and just in a theme functions file, alongside the callbacks.

@gitlab as of two days ago, all of our repos using the composer CI template gitlab.com/gitlab-org/git… are now failing with 401 Unauthorized responses. Did permissions on the package registry API change or is there an outage of some sort?

@gitlabstatus Would this issue also be causing 401 responses from CI_JOB_TOKEN requests? Since around the time of the bulk import functionality issue, we've been experiencing 401 responses from CI_JOB_TOKEN api endpoint requests across all our projects

The bulk import functionality is still disabled as it requires further testing. The next update will be made once testing and deployment of the fix has been successfully made. status.gitlab.com

@DerekAshauer @Production We have a script like this in most of our sites: mkdir db wp db export db/backup.sql wp @production db export - > db/latest-db.sql wp db import db/latest-db.sql wp option set blog_public 0 wp plugin deactivate autoptimize

@DerekAshauer if you use WP-CLI aliases or ssh, you can easily pull a db from a remote environment via something like this: wp @production db export - > mysql.sql

Has anyone worked on a major data update process? Looking for efficient ways to keep restoring a WordPress site database over and over as I repeatedly test my update script.

A large traffic WordPress site that I've got to optimize for page speed next month: current score 45 on mobile. Sounds terrible right? Well yes, until you see that the two biggest competitors in the space are scoring 28 and 27. It's wild, so the site I'll be working on is already TWICE as fast, even though the score is so low. These are some of the real-world nuances of page speed and other optimization efforts, because in it's space this site is already the fastest (even though we'd all cringe here on Twitter if we JUST looked at it's score in by itself) 🤯

@ChrisBadgett It feels like WordPress is doing the opposite with FSE and I’m a bit wary that it’s not going to end well for novices, power users, and developers.

The missing idea to WordPress interface is "easy mode" Kinda like Coinbase. There's regular, then advanced. WordPress interface needs 3 levels: 1) Novice 2) Power user 3) Developer

Assume every tweet you read automatically subtracts 1 from your knowledge, wisdom, attention span. Then adjust who you're following until reading several tweets are so valuable, it's a net +1 despite the above. Now you're not totally wasting time on this site!

@williamsba In a lot of ways it seems @wpengine is doing a better job pushing WordPress forward than WordPress itself.

@williamsba I feel this deeply. In some ways it feels like it’s likely to push away more technical developers if it feels to frustrating to build something for any type of non home blog usage.
