After the first game of the 2023-24 season, a win over Kennesaw State, Shea Ralph talked about how she thought she had a team that could make the NCAA Tournament. She went to 12 straight Final Fours, she said, and knew what a good team looked like.

@KrisFreemanPA So good. I too grew up in 3L! I still reminisce about watching Perdue, Booker, Wilcox, Goheen, Reed, Kornet, Billy Mac, Ronnie Mac, Lawson, Woods, Seckar, Maddux et al. It is so fun to have a new generation and your voice does them all justice. Congrats on another great year!

“It’s time for tip off in the Music City” - and this has come and gone with a 31-3 overall record at Memorial Gym this year. To all of Vanderbilt nation, I have never shot a basketball on the court, but I have called nearly every shot taken for the last 11 seasons. I get to be a part of Memorial Magic because God blessed me with a voice to say those words, and two teams who believed in my vision to be the best announcer in the world every time I touch that button on the mic. My 11th season for @VandyWBB and @VandyMBB is complete. I always say my greatest ambition is to be a pro announcer. But I am one. HERE. I am one at the place where I grew up watching my heroes because Vanderbilt University chose me to represent them. You may never know my name, or see my face, but you’ll hear threeeeeeeeeee ring into the rafters and Duuuuuuuuuke and Luuuuuuuuuuke echo into the student section. There’ll be corny phrases cause I’m unintentionally clever so much that I surprise myself in the moment, and there’ll always be a “boom” on three consecutive threes. I will out prepare you. I will be available. I’ll post a lot but it’s always supportive. I will always respect the opponent and love our team and my heart will break alone on the drive home after a loss. When we win, I’ll fail to sleep because the adrenaline is incredible hours after the event is over. I style well because I dress for the job I want. My shoe game takes all my budget but I’ll always be on point. I say hello and goodbye so much that I’m sure people wonder why it takes so long to leave the gym. I’m genuinely so happy to be there it’s likely annoying. Doesn’t that guy ever just go home? That’s because I love this. I love Memorial Magic. I love Vanderbilt basketball. I love the fact that some kid sitting right now in 3L can say some day I want to do THAT for the Vanderbilt Commodores. Because I did. And I’ll see you next year when we make it a dozen.
