reasons why ai wont replace real software engineers - ai lacks reasoning on larger context which is a problem most of the ai companies are still facing. all the new ais which are getting launched right now are just better tooling and larger context and optimizations - ai companies are burning cash insanely just to give costly ai at cheap rates. for ex. the 200$ claude max subscription costs almost 5000$ of compute cost to anthropic. eventually the rates are gonna get increased and will reach the average salary of an indian software engineer. so hiring a lot of indians will still be cheaper than a subscription. - the indian tech market contributes to almost 7% of india's gdp which is a huge number. If ai replaces this, the IT sector will go down which will cause a heavy stock market fall. henceforth the investors won't let this happen so soon. - the companies which laid off software engineers recently due to ai are not seeing any real impact yet. rather they will rehire again once the investors realize that no significant improvements happened even after replacing with AI. - the latest amazon example tells a lot of what "vibecoding" can break even if it's done cause of a mistake by a single developer. - apart from this if you use ai daily you will realise even the bests models predict random stuff and have small bugs which might cause issues when the code scales. the code just works for now. it won't scale until we have a real human-in-the-loop which will actually orchestrate ai while making production decisions. thats where real software engineering stay. - ai is good at prototypes and one shoting projects but when they scale they break to a point that they can't be fixed. - ai can write code but coding is just a part of software engineering, not entirely software engineering and that's the part rookies don't know.

Feels like AI dev is moving so fast that docs/tutorials/examples can't keep up. I was thinking of building an AI agent that automatically updates outdated code to the latest APIs.
