In a self-respecting Britain, halal slaughter would be outlawed. It doesn’t matter if the communities affected are too large, or it’s too difficult. We treat our animals with care and respect. We don’t slit their throats, and allow them to bleed to death in the most cruel and unnecessary pain. It needs to be banned - all non-stun slaughter needs to be banned. We all know its barbaric. Almost every MP knows its barbaric, so why the hell aren’t they speaking up about it? Call it out. It’s vile. Have some courage. We had the debate in Parliament, no Reform or Green MPs even turned up. It was a few Tories, a handful of others and the pro-Gaza independents. My calls to ban it were certainly not well received in the room. Starmer obviously won’t do anything about it. Farage said the same. Why? Because I fear they are chasing the Muslim vote. The Conservative position? I am unsure, to be frank. I tabled a motion in Parliament, and two Tories signed alongside two Northern Irish MPs. Nobody else did so. Five. Just five. As a country, we seem desperate to avoid offending one religion. Islam. I don’t want millions and millions of animals to endure a wicked and brutal death in order to appease that. We must have the courage to stand by our beliefs and principles. We must have the courage to ban halal slaughter.
