Today is a big day and we need your help. My #GivingTuesday personal story…Put together non profit to save my rural historic downtown performance theatre. Hurricane Helene tore our roof off to the tune of almost $300,000. Insurance has left us very short. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Link is in first comment.

Noticing a shift in my tax advice heading into 2026. After reviewing Q1 estimates, I’m recommending most business owners make individual state tax payments instead of electing PTET. There are still exceptions, clients above the ~$600K phaseout may benefit from staying with PTET. But for those under ~$500K, the increased QBID is too valuable to ignore. Also worth noting: the SALT cap is temporarily increased to $40K through 2029, before reverting back to $10K in 2030. Planning strategy matters more than ever over the next few years.

Horrendous. Poisoned meat has been found in Parks in London leaving animals and dogs dead and seriously ill. Who would do something so cruel?? The locations (so far) are Holland Park and Brompton Cemetery for anybody in London looking to walk their dogs near there. Dog walker local to the park said this: "In this case, it's poison meat," he said. "Before we've had toys that have been left around that have been poisoned. The worst one that really shocked me was razor blades being left in tennis balls." One woman walking her dog in Holland Park told BBC London: "I'm totally disgusted. I can't even imagine why anyone would do that." Another dog walker said: "It's absolutely horrendous. I'm not sure if someone's doing it for a spiteful reason. "It will stop people coming to the park with their dogs."

It’s crazy how normal it’s become to drop your kids off at daycare five days a week for eight straight hours, just so you can head to a job that mostly covers the daycare bill, the car you need to get there, and the house you barely spend any time in. We’re trapped in this endless loop of working just to afford a life we hardly ever get to actually live.

On day 1 of my high school history class, our professor got up and said You are 15 or 16 years old. 200 years ago people your age were married, planted crops, had children, and built a cabin by winter. You can do your homework. The bar set for you historically is embarrassingly low. You are not dealing with regional famine or plague. You do not have to save your family from marauders or go into battle to destroy your enemies. You have to sit down and learn from someone who cares about you in a safe, air-conditioned room. You have no excuses.

Unpopular opinion: I see a lot of people on social media rushing through return issues they do not understand or have sufficient knowledge to complete. STOP! (1) Do a valid extension with a proper estimate of tax. (2) Circular 230 §10.35 says we must have competence for all matters we are engaged to complete. Either gain competence in the off-season or refer to someone who can help. Do not experiment or guess on a client's tax return.

One wrong move by government here, and you will see, at the very least, 250k Irish people descend on the capital in a blink. They must step down, there is no other way. I cannot see another way. We have already heard the warning of using the army against its own people. We have heard the threat that they will come for the protestors after the protest ends. We have then seen the attempted character assassinations on the protest leaders. None of this has worked an iota as every single person in this country, outside of the political paywall and even within, is wide awake to it. These threats, as well as being pitiful, are now futile. Where else do they think they are going here? Government, you have no more moves. You’re going nowhere but out I am afraid. It is check mate. The gig is up. Percentages make no sense for real estate transactions. It is not four times the amount of work for a listing agent to sell a $400k house than it is to sell a $100k house. The whole process should be an app.
