@benjaminpacini @MrZachG There's no successful movement to end memorization in our district. It's a Both-And, not an Either - Or. My kids are taught both memorizations of facts (for expediency in doing mental math) as well as concepts. #thisisthewat

My gut is screaming "education by feels" here. Look, conceptual is good. Great, even. But there isn't a movement to end conceptual teaching. There is a very successful movement to end memorization, which I think is a terrible idea. Kids should know their math facts. Period.
