Uganda’s story continues to resonate far beyond its borders. Being featured in respected publications like Yorkshire and The Scotsman is more than just media coverage, it’s a powerful affirmation of the country’s growing global appeal as a destination rich in authenticity, natural beauty, and cultural depth. From the misty mountains that shelter the rare mountain gorillas to the vibrant rhythm of our communities, Uganda offers experiences that are both transformative and deeply human. Such international recognition not only inspires curiosity among new audiences but also strengthens confidence among travelers seeking meaningful, responsible, and unforgettable journeys. Such times reflect a steady rise in visibility, credibility, and desire positioning Uganda as a destination that speaks to the modern traveler: one who values connection, sustainability, and discovery beyond the ordinary. The invitation is simple, come and experience a story that the world is beginning to notice.

On Friday, in Gulu City, I had the privilege of engaging with journalists, news editors, and other media practitioners from the Acholi sub-region on the importance of telling positive and informative stories through destination reporting. The engagement, organized by @MTWAUganda, was more than just a meeting, it was transformational. There is something deeply fulfilling about sitting with passionate storytellers, exchanging ideas, and sometimes simply holding the hands of young PR practitioners and journalists as we collectively shape the narratives that define our country. Uganda’s story is rich, diverse, and full of promise. Often, it only takes one well-told story to create unimaginable impact, one story that inspires curiosity, shifts perception, and invites the world to experience our beautiful destination. I encouraged the journalists to continue telling meaningful, truthful, and compelling stories about our tourism potential. In doing so, we must always remember that our country existed before us, and it will continue to exist long after us. Our role is simply to be responsible custodians of its story while we have the chance. Grateful for the thoughtful engagement, the honest conversations, and the shared commitment to telling Uganda’s story better. #ExploreUganda

I’ve witnessed firsthand a strong public-private partnership in action, working together to promote Destination Uganda, build strategic business relationships, and unlock new market opportunities that will drive increased visitor arrivals. This momentum continued as the Uganda Tourism Board, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Uganda Mission to the European Union, engaged travel trade partners at the BENELUX roadshows. newvision.co.ug/category/trave…

At the Uganda Tourism Board, we’re proud to be on the ground in Brussels and across the BENELUX region, alongside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Uganda’s EU Mission, advancing Uganda’s Economic & Commercial Diplomacy agenda through targeted tourism roadshows. Together with the Uganda Wildlife Authority and our private sector partners, we are positioning Uganda as a competitive, sustainable and investment-ready destination. By connecting directly with buyers in Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands, we are building strong commercial partnerships that will drive visitor growth, expand market access, and increase tourism’s contribution to jobs, foreign exchange and inclusive national development. #ExploreUganda

Honored to join the UTB Board and Management at the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities’ Top Management Retreat at the Crested Crane Hotel under the theme “Reflecting, Transforming & Aligning for a Competitive Tourism Destination.” The retreat brought together sector leaders to review our progress, rethink our strategies, and sharpen our collective focus for a stronger tourism future. As tourism continues to power livelihoods, jobs, and foreign exchange earnings, alignment across institutions is more critical than ever. For UTB, this engagement reaffirms our commitment to collaboration, bold destination branding, market-driven product development, and the vital connection between conservation and tourism growth. Together, we are strengthening Uganda’s position as a leading sustainable and competitive tourism destination in Africa and beyond. #ExploreUganda

Last week, the Uganda Tourism Board and the Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) conducted a Stakeholder Pre-Launch Visit to the Karuma Falls Hydropower Plant as part of preparations for the official launch of the hydropower tourism product scheduled for the end of March. The visit brought together key stakeholders, including the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), members of the Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO), and leadership from Kiryandongo District, among them the CAO, LCV Chairperson, Secretary for Finance, and the DCO. The engagement focused on validating site readiness, safety standards, visitor flow, and the overall visitor experience, while aligning partners on product positioning and operational considerations ahead of the launch. Valuable on-site insights were gathered to inform final refinements as preparations move into the final phase toward launch.
