On December 10th, I defended my master's thesis, “The Ecological Dynamics of Decision-Making in Judo," at the Faculty of Human Kinetics. I am grateful to my family, friends, colleagues at @spertlab, and Professor @Duarterbparaujo for their support and inspiration.

To finish, @Duarterbparaujo, director of @spertlab and coordinator of @ciper_fmh, was honored as a former president and considered an Honorary Member of the Portuguese Society of Sports Psychology.  Congratulations!

On November 8th and 9th, SpertLab attended the XXV Conference of the Portuguese Society of Sports Psychology at the Rio Maior Sports School. Six researchers from SpertLab and CIPER-FMH actively participated in this nationally renowned event.

PhD students and collaborators from SpertLab demonstrated how advanced technologies are employed to study these areas. This seminar underscored the pivotal role of neuroscience and psychology in shaping the future of athletic performance.

Laura Andrea León, head of the Neurosciences Laboratory at COC, provided insights into the lab's contributions to sports psychology. David Barrera presented the role of sports psychology in Paralympic sports, while Luis Humberto Serrato discussed its impact on Olympic athletes.

On 21 October, SpertLab hosted a seminar in collaboration with the Neuroscience Laboratory of the Colombian Olympic Committee (COC) - Ministry of Sport of Colombia. The seminar showcased cutting-edge research at the intersection of neuroscience, psychology, and sports expertise.

This article introduces “educated intentionality,” where coaches co-design training with adaptable, problem-solving strategies that foster athlete autonomy and competitive responsiveness.

This article challenges traditional training planning models, proposing that effective performance development emerges from dynamic, nonlinear interactions.

Manrique will be conducting his research internship at SpertLab until December, contributing to understanding how constraints-based methods can improve racket sports training.

His project, also developed in partnership with the International Tennis Federation and the University of Valencia, will conduct a scoping review on applying the constraint-led approach in split-court sports like tennis.

On 10 October, Manrique Rodríguez, another PhD student from the University of Valencia's Physical Education and Sports Department, presented his research project at SpertLab.

This model has shown a strong ability to reflect shooting affordances that guide players’ decisions in finishing situations, often aligning closely with expert football coaches’ insights.

The FSV model, developed from positional data and grounded in players’ perceptions of match affordances, captures key shooting circumstances for the ball carrier.
