I’m starting to notice a pattern of homeowners reporting roof leaks after solar installations.
I’m currently going through inspection following documented issues with my own system.
Looking forward to getting clear answers and a fair resolution.

Hi Ryan, we're really sorry to hear about this situation. That's not the experience we want for our customers, and we understand how frustrating this must be. Beware of doing business with Sunrun Solar @Sunrun. They caused damage to my roof during the installation of my Sunrun solar panels, which caused a leak into my home and they do not want to take responsibility for the damage or repair the damages.

Update: Solar panel removal is now scheduled for April 3rd.
After months of back and forth with @Sunrun, we’re finally getting to the point where the roof can be properly inspected.
This should have happened from the beginning.
Once panels are removed, we’ll be documenting:

Nearly half of all residential storage capacity installed in the U.S. last year came from one company: Sunrun.
SEIA's inaugural U.S. Energy Storage Market Outlook report shows the sector added 3.1 GWh in 2025. Sunrun's reported 1.5 GWh represents approximately 48% of that total.
“Our deliberate and decisive pivot to provide Americans with energy independence is why Sunrun leads the residential energy storage sector.” — Sunrun CEO Mary Powell.

@MaryGPowell@Sunrun Thank you, I appreciate the response. We are currently working through scheduling panel removal and a full roof inspection, as the issue is still ongoing. I will continue coordinating with Gabby and look forward to a resolution once the full extent of the damage is assessed.
We are now preparing for full removal of the solar panels so the roof can be opened and inspected.
At this point, we are expecting a full roof replacement just to assess the extent of the damage.

I’m a homeowner in Montclair, CA dealing with ongoing roof damage after a solar installation. What started as a small leak has turned into something much bigger. I’m sharing my experience so other homeowners know what to watch for.

We are not claiming the roof was brand new—but it was approved for installation and had no visible interior issues prior to this.
Now we are dealing with multiple leak areas under the solar system.

In November 2025, we discovered a leak inside our home directly under the solar panels.
Sunrun sent technicians out multiple times.

@ashriosbarba Hi Ashley. Thank you for reaching out. We're so sorry to hear you are still waiting on a resolution. We have contacted your expert, Gabby, and requested she get in touch with you to provide an update as soon as possible. Thank you!
We had solar panels installed in 2020 (Vivint Solar, later acquired by Sunrun). Before installation, we were told our roof had to pass an inspection to qualify.
We trusted that process.
