@sam_pout Waiting for Godot - one of the only plays that really needs to be performed live as it questions existence and the presence of the audience! As a non theatre going kid it gave me a lightbulb moment on why theatre existed! Also, it’s funny 💁♀️

So flipping frustrating! Education & Community projects are our future directors, actors, writers, audiences and the rest! If @billicritic thinks they are less important than ‘rich work’ then theatre is dead. If we diminish this work, equity & equality are impossible!

@LindaBxx @billicritic take note of the offence caused from such undermining phrasing. If it wasn’t for community & education work for Shakespeare, audiences would be dying! They are dying; in large part because of views like yours, those are potential new audiences you are alienating!

@JenChenko Christ alive! Without that work there would be extremely diminishing audiences to watch the flipping ‘man stage’ shows… actually it’s views like this that are the exact reason that theatre audiences are dying, literally!

with Fringe now retreating in the side mirrors it feels like time to work out what the hell actually just happened. foremostly, the whole idea at the heart of it all is fundamentally broken. it’s becoming less a showcase of talent and ideas, and more a platform for privilege. 1/?
