She thought they said they were calling 911, smiled, said "Thank you," and sat down on the porch to wait for help. Instead of showing a little compassion, they told her she couldn't stay there. No one is saying you have to invite a stranger into your home. But if someone clearly seems lost, scared, or mentally confused, the decent thing to do is make sure help is actually on the way. A little kindness can save a life. Sometimes that's all someone needs.
