The Math Behind Artemis II

Hearing that recorded message to the Artemis II crew from astronaut Jim Lovell, who was part of the first manned mission to fly around the moon with Apollo 8, who was commander of the infamous Apollo 13 mission and who passed away in 2025, makes me tear up in joy.

"Welcome to my old neighborhood." Our @NASAArtemis II astronauts woke up on the sixth day of their mission to a special message recorded in 2025 by astronaut Jim Lovell, the pilot of Apollo 8.

Your whole life you hear about the shoulders of giants. Then one day you wake up and find you're the shoulders. Four broad new sets of shoulders just orbited the Moon. Imagine how many more will stand upon them. @NASA @csa_asc #Artemismission
