@RichardHanania Prime Minister Carney's numbers are high in large part because he is very anti-American, and demagoguing against America plays well in Canadian politics. In that sense, his style of politics don't and can't really have an American analogue.

@JJ_McCullough Simply not true. Canadian currently living in USA, have always had admiration and respect for the US, but this speech rung largely true for myself and many fellow Canadians I know down here. Actions have consequences, even good relationships can sour.

What US liberals have to keep in mind when they hear Carney is that he’s is playing to a domestic base of older, liberal Canadians who have always hated the US. Not to say he says nothing true—just his motives are suspect because he panders to longstanding Canadian pathologies.
