@_waterman @RezekJoe @S_Insley_H I had first-year writing students who told me they’d never written a “take-home” essay before! Only timed in-class essays as AP test prep. Still did well in the course, but could have had a better head start ☹️

I feel like we have the opposite problem in the humanities: publishing in special issues as a junior scholar can be special & good for your career, but the process is often opaque & info is fractured and inaccessible! I'm working on a project to help address these issues :)

@pslycnrd @MModernity @AtPost45 I think special issues are an especially opaque part of academic publishing -- may be worth contacting editors of journals you like even if they don't have a call for proposals on their websites
