@LycanCooks I think she just got cooked by the anti trans push that has happened. It fucks up your world view and brain when you become the point of blame for a large part of the country and a focus of discourse.

@dubious_gal @ryangrim Who ever made the argument that you need to pander to leftists in red areas lol. This is such a pivot from the original fight the neocons picked over Hasan.

It’s bad faith to assume she meant that leftists think the ONLY way of winning is going on DSA podcasts. To me it’s clear she’s making a tongue in cheek statement saying candidates don’t need to pander to demsocs in places where there aren’t a lot of leftists. You don’t like her politics, which is your prerogative, but disengaging over something so small is just lame.

As much as I've enjoyed this discourse, gonna have to mute this person. If you have so thoroughly lost a debate that you are now constructing psychedelic-level straw men -- lady, nobody ever claimed the only way to win a senate race in alaska is to go on hasan piker's twitch stream! -- you're not just debasing yourself but anybody who engages with you.
Sarah Longwell@SarahLongwell25

How is she doing this without going on DSA podcasts?

@stacycay I fundamentally agree with you and Hasans position isnt counter to it. Recognizing the best position they will likely ever be in for negotiation as being when Biden was in office is just reality. His position is more aid for Ukraine. Clips arent representative of full positions.

@wavewalker5497 This is like arguing that Iran should just give us some of their territory because we have a bigger army Ukrainians remember the holodomor. Even if Zelenskyy wanted to capitulate to Russian demands, they’d fight without him. Never cede ground to warmongering dictators.

If I was Ukrainian, I’d hate this guy. You can’t say stuff like this and then be mad that most politicians don’t want to be on your stream. He could at least apologize to Ukrainians, but he won’t because streamers make money from never apologizing. I’d love to be proved wrong.

@stacycay Its Pro Putin and Trump when he says the annexation of Ukraine territory is illegal? Saying they were in a better position to negotiate when we had an administration aiding them vs one that isn't is also wrong somehow?

@wavewalker5497 Are these not direct quotes? If you knew ball you’d notice that Hasan here is making the same arguments that Putin and Trump keep making to justify Ukrainian capitulation. I have no patience for this kind of thing.
yeet@Awk20000

Hasan says his Ukraine/Russia analysis ended up being correct & that the only criticism he receives comes down to him not giving out enough pro Ukraine hopium "Yes my initial prediction that Putin would never Ukraine was wrong..the analysis was still obviously correct..look at the situation now, every single thing that I said, including the initial ceasefire agreement should have been taken..the offramp..should have been taken..these are no longer controversial..now universal position..it was foresight at the time" "That sh*tty peace deal would have been a massive W in comparison to the battle lines currently..they pushed back on some Russian positions, they got a little bit of territory back..Ukraine has lost leverage..every single day..now facing..permanent annexation" "It feels like every single criticism anybody makes of ur Russia takes ultimately comes down to, ur not giving me as much pro Ukraine hopium as I want therefore u must be pro Russia, have u ever seen a more reasonable critique?" - chatter "No I have not, also saying Russia economy is crumbling rn when strikes on Iran..we gave Russia sanctions relief..price of oil barrel goes up..Russia benefits, they don't rely on the Strait of Hormuz"

@wavewalker5497 This isn’t the only thing I’ve see from Hasan being wrong about Ukraine. He’s been consistently wrong about it for years. It’s my biggest problem with the guy. I genuinely don’t think he sees Ukrainians as people fighting against imperialist expansion, and I think that’s bad.

@stacycay My point isn't the take, because what you see in this clip isn't Hasans take its him responding to someone. My point is you are being a reactionary boomer by falling for 15 second clips as if they represent anything. I care about Ukraine and want to support them until they win

@wavewalker5497 Imagine if somebody said this about Gaza. You just think it’s no big deal because you don’t see Ukrainians as people, let alone allies that we made a deal with to protect them from Russia in exchange for the giving away their nuclear weapons. This is disgusting.

.@TomFooleryP loses it over how @adammocklerr handled his conversation w/ Jennifer Welch “Mockler, everybody, do not appease these f*cks, stop appeasing them, stop talking to them, stop acting like they’re good faith ppl, stop acting like they’re a part of our Party… she’s paid opposition, Hasan’s paid opposition, these ppl are our enemies… they are lying f*cks or they’re just too stupid to be listened to… don’t give them a platform and just sit there and tacitly agree with everything they say, this is actually disgusting… to listen to this and him just sit there w/ that f*cking face the whole time”

James Talarico posted this ten minutes ago. The man can deliver sermons about how much Democrats are hated or how Joe Biden failed us but he can’t come up with something that’s more nuanced about Iran? I could have tweeted this in middle school.

Why is he not all over this? Hope he doesn’t think that a sermon on “radical love” or telling us that “Trump is a child of god” is going to do much at this moment.

@hecubian_devil The quiet part I think needs to be a lesson learned. Even if its a difficult topic to discuss you can't be quiet about it. That just gives conservatives too much agency in the discourse.

Tbf there’s a weird problem with how Biden & Obama went about good trans policy. They tended to set policy quietly at the level of the administrative state, but then avoid messaging around it, and eschewed legislative means that require you to win a political/narrative battle. This really contributed to the sense that trans policy prescriptions “came out of nowhere” and were “shoved down our throats” for lots of regular people. In fact most strides for trans people in the last 20 years happened this way: court rulings on Title IX, private administrative bodies issuing rules, medical boards issuing guidance on care, ACA guidance on trans health coverage, etc. It came through an alphabet soup of acronym agencies and boards and bodies—NCAA, IOC, APA, AAP, AMA, etc—handing down rules that governed trans people’s rights to participate in public life and receive healthcare. The policy was good! And it was based on evidence and motivated by an effective elite-outreach activist strategy that lobbied rule makers, judges, and administrators. This is not at all, morally or empirically, bad. It was however *politically* vulnerable, because it didn’t entail building a broad coaliton that was actually persuaded of arguments in favor of trans people’s rights and interests. It wasn’t durable, and it remained open to be overruled by a popular coalition organized against it. And that’s exactly what the Right realized and executed.
David Weigel@daveweigel

There’s a progressive talking point about how Dems enabled a trans backlash bc they clammed up and let Rs control the story. But Biden admin really leaned into trans visibility, and the acceptance #s went down pewresearch.org/short-reads/20…

@LycanCooks Leftists are just not worth the time. Everything you give to them pulls you away from other voter bases, and then they still won't support you. We should make OUR coalition stronger, not make concessions to a different coalition that will NEVER EVER EVER support our candidates.

As someone who rightly keeps his focus on MAGA, I'mma briefly deviate to make a few observations: - committing to voting 3rd party and saying "it doesn't even matter" is both indefensible and wrong and may well be seen by Dems as him slamming the door on them, thus motivating them to go rightward - he could have said something like "I can't say because Newsom needs to earn my vote" if he wanted to apply leverage - the very worst Democrat is objectively better than any MAGA candidate This schism is, sadly, yet another disadvantage we face in the anti-MAGA movement even as the stakes get higher and the terrain gets more uneven
usurp tha chef@usurpthachef

When asked if he’d vote for Gavin Newsom or JD Vance for president, Hasan says he’d vote 3rd party. This proves Hasan doesn’t care about ANY of the marginalized groups he pretends to support. All he cares about is taking money from them so he can buy more outfits for stream.
