• This is the postal cover  commemorating the inaugural flight of the British Airways TriStar between London and Tel Aviv on March 23, 1975. •  The specific aircraft used was registered as G-BBAG, a Lockheed L-1011-1 TriStar which was delivered to British Airways in November 1974 and served with the airline until 1993. • The flight marked the entry of the TriStar on British Airways' European network and the introduction of the "European Space Travel" concept, highlighting the increased cabin space and comfort of the then-new wide-body jet. •  It bears a standard 1st class "Machin" definitive stamp of Queen Elizabeth II and a commemorative stamp featuring artwork by Turner. #BritishAirways #firstflight #AvGeek #Aviation #Airlines #Lockheed #L1011 #TriStar

Delhi to London. Night flight. Homebound. Mission butter chicken: complete. Now the rhythm shifts, from movement to stillness. From long-haul focus to something far simpler: time off, friends, and a certain dog who will expect far more walks than I’m probably ready for. But first, one more crossing of a route that has been bringing people home for nearly a century. In the 1930s, this journey wasn’t a night flight. It was an expedition. Imperial Airways crews edged west in stages, Karachi, Basra, Cairo, across Europe linking the far reaches of the Empire one sector at a time. Flying boats and early airliners, navigating by map, star, and instinct. What we now do overnight once took days, sometimes weeks. Tonight, it’s a single, quiet arc through the darkness. Same geography. Same distance. Just a very different machine. There’s something fitting about flying it homeward. These routes were never just about travel, they were about connection. Between places, people, and lives lived far apart. And now, for me at least, they end where they should. Home. Friends. And a long overdue walk with Millie. #PilotLife #A350 #Homebound #LongHaul #AvGeek #AviationHistory #ImperialAirways #FlightDeckView #AboveTheClouds #LayoverLife #AirlineLife

On this day in 1969, the first Concorde supersonic transport, Concorde 001, made its inaugural flight. The first supersonic airliner to enter service, the Concorde flew thousands of passengers across the Atlantic at twice the speed of sound for over 25 years.

57 years ago, this day, Concorde 001, the French prototype (F-WTSS), made its historic first flight on March 2, 1969, taking off from Toulouse-Blagnac airport in France. Piloted by André Turcat, the maiden flight lasted 27–40 minutes, reaching 10,000 feet with the landing gear down. Upon landing, Turcat famously remarked"The big bird flies!". The flight did not exceed 300 mph and stayed at lower altitudes for safety and handling characteristics at low speeds with the landing gear and nose visor lowered. While the maiden flight was subsonic, Concorde 001 later achieved its first supersonic flight on October 1, 1969. The flight was the culmination of years of joint effort between Sud Aviation (France) and British Aircraft Corporation (UK). In addition to the Chief Pilot André Turcat, the crew Included Henri Perrier, Michel Retif, and Jacques Guinard Following this, the British prototype (002) made its first flight from Filton, Bristol, shortly after, leading to years of testing before entering commercial service in 1976.

"2 March 1969. Concorde began its maiden flight from Toulouse in France. It was in the air for just 27 minutes. The test flight reached 10,000 feet (3,000m), Concorde's speed never rose above 300 MPH". ℹ️Prof. Frank McDonough

Yes.In the late 1980s, prior to privatisation, Indian airports were managed by the government and except for the 4 hubs, lacked the infrastructure to efficiently handle the advanced Airbus A320, which was introduced by Indian Airlines to modernize its fleet. Key constraints included outdated navigation aids, inadequate runway strength and length, and limited terminal capacity, which created operational challenges during the induction of the A320.
