@MountUncle @BuffaloSabres We’ll certainly be scrutinizing this one. Wonder if splitting the difference at ~$9.5M for 8 years gets it done. We generally base off of just regular season performance but a strong playoff might help his case for a payday.

@AFPAnalytics Thanks guys. Personally think that LA was in a real bind and overpaid. Doesn’t mean the @BuffaloSabres should. Would like to see them keep him but at a more reasonable salary. He is an important piece though

Nick Schmaltz agrees to an $8Mx8 year contract with #TusksUp. This is around where we expected his AAV to land but he is rewarded for signing now and foregoing UFA by getting #MaxTerm instead of our projected 6. The forward market is getting incredibly thin at the top with Schmaltz now off the market. Could he have gotten more in the open market? Potentially.

Analyzing NHL HRR projections and the current revenue slack that exists in the system, hearing the NHL is projecting a Salary Cap Upper Limit of approx $123M in 2028-29. We are currently at $95.5M. (That’s an almost $30M rise of the Cap within 3 years).

@Canucks_Enjoyer Needs further research but believe it to be a bug. He’s 60% but with only 5 draws. That few draws should eliminate him from comparison to rest of the league and leave a “-“ in the faceoff spot. But instead it’s marking him as being in the basement of that category.
